Tiger's Former Coach Hank Haney Blasts Woods For Bad Tableside Manners
By Mack Rawden 4 years ago
Tiger Woods and his swing coach Hank Haney parted ways a few years back, but apparently, the fifty-six year old hasn’t quite gotten over the time he spent with the former world’s number one golfer. To vent his feelings of frustration or perhaps make a quick buck, Haney has written a tell-all book about the half decade or so he spent with Woods, and by all accounts, it’s a pretty bitter and juicy read.
According to The New York Post, the instructor bashes Woods for everything from leaving the dinner table after he’d finished eating, regardless of whether others were done, to laughing when his favorite show South Park did an episode in which he called his ex-wife Elin a “crazy bitch”. Haney also reportedly recounts numerous stories that paint the golfer in a less than flattering light including one where he watched pornography in his hotel room specifically to irritate his Christian roommate Zach Johnson.
None of the excerpts I’ve read from the forthcoming book The Big Miss, due out March 27th, really surprise me, but I am a bit taken back that Haney would feel he needed to write it. Tell-alls often come from broke and angry former assistants. Haney is a renowned teacher who, one would imagine, would want to work with other PGA golfers in the future. You wouldn’t think someone knew would willingly hire him thanks to his loose tongue, but I guess you never know.
Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten a chance to read the entire book yet, but it should be noted most that have point out that Haney does praise Woods’ work ethic and patriotism. It’s nice to know there is some kind of balance, but when all is said and done, it’s likely most readers will remember the negatives a lot more than the positives.
