Watch Congressman Todd Akin Claim Legitimate Rape Doesn't Usually Cause Pregnancy

In a desperate attempt to ruin his chances at being a US Senator and piss off every single sensible person in the United States, Representative Todd Akin (R-Missouri) sat down for an interview with The Jaco Report this weekend to explain why women shouldn’t be allowed to get abortions if they’re raped. Apparently, the Congressman thinks a woman’s body automatically shuts down reproductive functions in cases of “legitimate rape”. Thus, there’s really no sensible reason for abortions to ever take place, except if the shutdown functions fail, then she should tough it out.

It all sounds like an elaborate SNL middle finger at the Tea Party, but unfortunately, this actually happened. Go ahead and take a look at Representative Akin shoot himself with a torpedo below…

Ordinarily, when someone makes a comment this stupid, there’s one clear moment that’s easily identified as the worst of it. That’s not the case here. In fact, I’d be willing to hear arguments about any of the following being the single worst thing that came out of his mouth: 1) the idiotic scientific theory, 2) the inference that most women who have claimed rape and gotten pregnant somehow consented to the attack, 3) the opinion that a woman who is violated shouldn’t have control over what happens afterward.

I never thought I would say this, but I wish this asshole, who claims to be in favor of individual liberties, would get back to advocating against online poker. I’ve hated his guts for years thanks to his efforts to shutdown one of the best hobbies ever, but at least his stupid fucking opinion on that won’t ruin people’s lives.
