What Type Of Cookies Did You Leave For Santa?

When I was a kid, I always left Santa Claus chocolate chip cookies. I never questioned it at the time, but in retrospect, I now realize that choice was made through pure selfishness. Chocolate chip cookies were my favorite, and when my mother and I baked them the night before, I always ate three or four. I figured a plateful was enough given how many houses he went to over the course of the night, but since he was doing me a favor, I probably should have left him the whole batch. In fact, what I should have done was left him a questionnaire to fill out asking what type of cookies he’d prefer to have the following year.

Don’t get me wrong. Chocolate chip cookies are delicious, and I’m positive Santa Claus loves them. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have inhaled every single one each Christmas, but maybe, just maybe, there’s another type of cookie Santa Claus loves better. Maybe he’s an Oreo guy, or a Girl Scout Thin Mint dude. Maybe he’s one of those weirdos who can’t get enough of oatmeal raisin. Maybe I should have switched things up and left him ones with peanut butter M&Ms one year. The choices are endless, but looking back, I think most of the other kids left him chocolate chip too. That must have gotten old after a few million platefuls.

Considering Santa Claus, out of the goodness of his heart and not via any weird court ruling, generously provides Christmas cheer to most of the world, it seems only fair he gets a nice variety. I hope he does, but I’m not sure. What type of cookies did you leave for Santa Claus as a child? Let us know by voting in the poll below…
