Rebecca Bloomwood is a sweet and charming New York City girl who has a tiny, little problem that is rapidly turning into a big problem: she’s hopelessly addicted to shopping and drowning in a sea of debt. While Rebecca has dreams of working for a top fashion magazine, she can’t quite get her foot in the door—that is, until she snags a job as an advice columnist for a new financial magazine published by the same company. Overnight, her column becomes hugely popular, turning her into an overnight celebrity. But when her compulsive shopping and growing debt issues threaten to destroy her love life and derail her career, she struggles to keep it all from spiraling out of control…and is ultimately forced to reevaluate what’s really important in life.

  1. Amanda Says:

I love this book! I think its one of the best series of books i've read! i am so so so excited for the movie!!!
    can't wait

  1. Monica Says:

Why oh why are they setting this in NY....I realize that Becky and Luke eventually end up in the states in the book series, but the UK is a character in itself in the books.....

  1. camila Says:

I cant wait for this movie to come out!!!!
while I read the books i always try to imagine the characters in my head,, and now i'll have someone in mind !!!! it's great.. cant waitttttt!!!!!!! that's so exciting

  1. Angela Says:

I cannot agree with Monica more. The settings in London, how Becky whizzing in and out of London highstreets and of course what makes this book so much fun is the british humour! It is such a shame that the movie will be set in NY, :-(

  1. Richard Says:

I can't believe it is going to be in the US. The British humor is what makes the books totally funny. Of course I will see the movie, but I hope it does the books justice.

  1. ina Says:

I was work in miami in the set extra in the shopaholic movie, this will a fantastic movie everybody must see this movie.

  1. Ro Says:

Mmmm a real shame it will be set in the states! The whole fun was in her actually MOVING to the states! I read every single book in the series and her 'englishness' really makes the character and the gags ...disappointed.

  1. Karla Says:

I love the book I'm almost done with the series and hope for more to come, I love becky and her shopping ability and her maxed out credit card. I cant wait to see the movie, hope that it will be shown in asia too!

  1. Ysh Says:

I love the book series! I can't wait to watch the movie.. When will it be aired??

  1. Lindsey Says:

I'm also upset that it will be in the US. London is one of my favorite places and is one of the reasons i like the books so much. I'm not as excited to see the movie now

  1. ashley Says:

this is going to be the best movie ever... i really hope its as great as the books. the character lineup is crucial.. i pray that lukes character is a dreamy as i pictured him...

  1. Jennifer Says:

I just saw the trailer for "Confessions of a Shopaholic" and let me say "OMFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFG." Rebecca Bloomwood is American! The filmmakers devirge too much from the book. How was Sophie Kinselle okay with this?

  1. Ro Says:

I am obsessed with the Shopaholic books and cant wait for the movie, however, I am upset that it is in New York! I am also upset that her job is not the "Money managing" job that she has in London. Thats part of the hilarious British humor in the book. She cant hold a dollar but she tells everyone else how to save.

I love the chacter Becky, but i wish to see more of the book in this movie. :(

  1. Sarah Says:

I just saw the preview and was appalled that none of the spoke with an accent and jumped quickly to find out why that was. To find that it has been set in NY took away some of the lure of seeing it. Becky's British-ness just made the book. Also to take that setting away will most likely never justify the book. What a shame!

  1. Mrisa Says:

I agree! i'm pretty upset that they are having it take place in NYC. it's like they are skipping around and not being true to the book. london is crucial to her character! not to mention i HATE when they make movies out of books but don't stay true to the story! i will still see it, but now i'm going into it expecting disappointment.

  1. Jennifer Lenzen Says:

I have to agree with the others. I am so upset this movie isn't set in London. There are way too many movies with twenty-somethings set in NYC. I would have loved to have seen something different. I will mostly miss Becky's British humor and that cute English way of saying things. So sad. :(

  1. Marlie Says:

I just watched the trailer online. As a huge fan of the books and Becky herself, I'm upset that they're portraying her as such a ditzy character! Becky is obsessed with shopping but not a ditzy moron. Also, Luke is supposed to be a strong very put together man, but by casting a scrawny disheveled Hugh Dancy they are losing a bit of the character.

  1. Jackie Says:

Although the UK brings a lot of the novel to life, I think Isla Fisher has the comedic chops to bring Becky, and her outrageous mind, to life.
