A beautiful young woman possesses the power to transform a legendary giant serpent into an almighty dragon who can only ascend into heaven with the woman's ultimate sacrifice. But the forces of darkness are out to claim the young woman as their own and her reincarnated lover and his aged mentor stand in their way.

I have no idea if Dragon Wars, aka D-War is going to be any good… in fact it’ll probably suck; but my god the advertising is sexy. It’s like a Gojira wet dream. No movie can really be this cool. I have this horrible feeling that this is the giant monsters attack equivalent of Robot Jox. This summer we had GIANT FREAKIN ROBOTs, bring on the giant freakin monsters! Dragon Wars is a Korean import about legendary creatures who return to destroy our planet. Basically, you’re talking at least 90 minutes of rampant destruction set in Los Angeles. As long as they deliver that, the movie can suck all it wants. I’ll still show up to see it.

  1. thekoreanator Says:

GLAUGHHHHGRRRGGG@#$!#!!!...!!!. whew. done puking. i saw this in korea last week. this is the WORST movie i've ever seen. i was cringing in my seat at the dialogue the whole way through... and when i found that they are going to release this on 1500 screens in the US simultaneously... well, i started BLOWING CHUNKS! as a korean, i don't want this thing to leave the shores of korea... if people from other countries see it, korea will become a laughing stock for the world to deride. good lord was this film bad. obviously someone wrote a LAME script in english and used google language tools to translate the dialogue into english. It was the most lame, un-natural sounding dialogue i've ever heard in a movie. the effects near the end were pretty good. but the openning attack on the korean village. well, it looked like a cut scene preview for warcraft 4 or something. damn. the koreans are all worked up about d-war... like it's a point of national pride. but i guess they too are blinded by nationalism to realize what a disaster this film is in sooo many ways.

  1. choi Says:

    but man,,the Picture, CG,,is GREAT
Koreans really seemed to have worked hard to gain this technique
But seriously,,,it's only 95min long movie, and people shouldn't expect too much of this just by watching the hot trailer...lol hope people in US don't deride this movie for its storyline...
It's great movie to watch when eyes are bored dough...lol

  1. Chris Says:

  1. kk Says:

Hey, I am Korean, and there will be some grammatical mistakes in my post.
Some Americans think that Koreans are just prasing this movie.
But not all Koreans think this movie is good.
Actually most of cricits in Korea, and most people say this one is piece of sh*t.
I am Korean, and I don't like this movie even though I am from Korea.
This movie is definately not worth watching.
poor acting, laughable and horrible plot, poor CG.
CG doesn't look real, this movie is like Uwe Boll's movies.
    $70million are all wasted.
Just remember, all the people who say they are Korean and the movie is good.
Don't believe them. They are just jerks and crazy fans of the dircetor.
    What a shame!!!

  1. FROS Says:

This movie is like a BIG JOKE! I watched it last week, and it's nothing but the director's(Famous comedian in Korea) false desire to conquer Hollywood! The director is such a egomaniac that he even wrote a essay about himself on endig credit. The film is so bad, would be worse than you expect. Be careful.

  1. Tracy Says:

I saw this movie in korea on opening night. Its horrible, boring trash. The CG, looks like long cut scene from a video game. But the CG is not the problem. Its the story, or how i should say? The lack of a story. There is vitually no story, no plot, no character development and nothing interesting at all about this movie. I live in korea currently so I see the nationalism backing this movie up. I have never seen a movie get soo much hype from patriotism and nationalism even all my korean friends say the same thing. Anyways, I dont think this movie will have a good US release. Its just really really bad, not soo bad its good. More like its soo bad that its really bad. You've been warned :)

  1. Brian Says:

I really wanna watch this movie.
I heard that lots of Korean argued on this matter...
but friend of mine who stay in korea told me '' It was grrrrate !"
"better than any monster movies what I've ever seen"

    so, I'm a friend buff ! Why not ?
I just can't wait till september 14 th. Brian from TORONTO ONT.

  1. HAHA Says:

Haha, do you guys expect this movie to be serious with some complicated storylines??
An age target for this movie is under 13 or so. If you think it sucks, just do not watch. It is as simple as that.

  1. hi Says:

I live in Korea and I watched this film about a couple of weeks ago. I have to admit that the plot and acting is not so great. But I'm 15 and I enjoyed this film very much. I thought the computer graphics was very good. It was thrilling to see people fighting against the mosters. What can I say? This is the first time we ever made CG by ourself without any help from other countries. I'm quite proud. I know that hollywood movies are more mature and stuff. But WHY IN THE WORLD CAN'T WE TRY? It's quite disappointing to hear lots of people saying the movie was a trash, worst nightmare and blahblahblah. I enjoyed it. Not just because of patriotism but also because it was enjoyable. I'm also quite angry with people who mock Director Sim just because he was a comedian. There is no high and low in jobs. The movie can't be bad because he was a comdian. And no offece but Koreans won't kill you for saying the movie was horrible.
I'm just writing what I thought of the movie.

  1. james Says:

What is all the stink about? Already so many reviews about how bad this movie is and that Korea should be ashamed: ashamed of what? People have to realize that they dont have the capital like Hollywood does to pump out these types of movies, and as of late Hollywood aint doing too good a job at it either. Personally I loved "The Host" and am looking forward to "Dragon Wars". Nothing wrong with a good old fashioned monster movie. I think they know how to spend their money, Hollywood dont. The total budget of this movie is equal to the salary of ONE actor in Hollywood. Could Hollywood make a movie like this with the same budget?...no. So I think people should cut them some slack.

  1. thekoreanator Says:

look, we are not pissed off at this movie per se. we are pissed because this movie is trash and everywhere we go these uber nationalistic pro d-war korean elves are telling everyone how great this film is. i mean, they go so far as to pretend they are not korean e.g.:

to lie and trick people from other countries into watching this disaster. this movie is about as good as uwe boll's "alone in the dark"... actually, let me take that back. this movie is worse. nothing can possibly be worse than d-war.

d-war is all about nationalistic pride. what they don't realize is that this movie is going to shame korea. it needs to be pulled from the US market before it's too late!!!

  1. Robbin Crance Says:

I am a mother of a young boy and anything with dragons and artillery will sell tickets in the movie theater. I don't expect plot is what that age group is looking for.

  1. casper Says:

The storyline is typical monster movie, so I can't say anything about that. Nothing new, nothing extaordinary, just a monster CG movie. My guess is that the advertisements will sell, and all the kids in the world will be dying to see this. Just looking at the trailer, I can see there are few flaws in CG here and there already in trailer. The movie is toooo CGish, and they seem to lack believability, which is very important when it comes to these kind of movies. But, I shouldn't be too cruel to Korean cinema since they have somewhat improved and challenged themselves to bring the film into Hollywood. They still have long way to go, but with more experience in Hollywood, they have potential to meet the demand of US audience. I just hope they get more art directions and focus more so on improving plotline. The movie might look cool with all the CGs, but it's the STORY that will make the movie worth watching and timeless.

Either way, I'm going to see this film when it releases here in US.

  1. derek Says:

" have this horrible feeling that this is the giant monsters attack equivalent of Robot Jox."

That's unbelievable. I saw the commercial for this the other night (not realizing it was the American release/rename of D-War) and thought that EXACT SAME THING to myself. I think watching Robot Jox was the moment my childhood officially died.

I think I was 21 or 22 at the time.

  1. Phillip Thayer Says:

Well, all I care about is lots of violence involving dragons. There better not be much story or talking!

  1. Larry Finstol Says:

I expect this film to be good. But can it possibly be any better than the best dragon movie of all time - Reign of Fire? Does Dragon Wars have Matthew McConaughey as an axe wielding dwarf? I think not.

I just hope the dragons can transform into cars or hot air balloons or laser pointers. And there better be a scene where all of the dragons unite to form one huge Mega-Dragosaurus.

I agree with Philip - yeah violence!

  1. Bobby Says:

Whats a load of shit this film is. Absolute crap from start to end

  1. Pierre Cromartie Says:

    This was crap..
As an Asian American this was the most racist film i have ever seen.
So by this story my future children will be white anglos this just shows
how white america steal and takes foreign culture.
Leave stories of Asia to the Asian

this bad rip off of so many films is the message to all
ASIAN STORIES ARE NOT SAFE WHEN DUMB FUCK AMERICAN COMPANIES
    LOOK TO EXPLIOT IT.

  1. louie310LA Says:

Pierre Cromartie, this movie was produced and directed by Koreans. You can't blame Americans this time, lol. I agree with you though, I think the Koreans should take their Imoogi and destroy their own cities.

  1. D Says:

This movie was HORRIBLE! What a moron I was for buying that load of crap on blu-ray for 30 bucks! I should just go and shut an elevator door on my head, or throw myself down a flight of stairs.

Seriously..don't waste your cash on this nearly 2 hour long heap of crap. The CGI is horrendous, and the acting is bad enough to give you a nose bleed. They hyped this garbage with tons of sweet looking stills, and souped up the trailer to look bad ass with what turned out to be 5 mins of the BEST footage you will see in this god-awful film. I wish I could get those two hours of my life I wasted watching this junk!

  1. whyt Says:

oh and btw pierre if you really knew what you were talking about you would realise this was a korean production
    duh...
so chill out n do ur homework b4 dissing a movie

  1. whyt Says:

yeah hey im from sydney australia (strangely enough i still havent heard of this movie being released here gah? O.o) nywayz i sorta stumbled onto this movie on google video n decided to watch now though it may have been the bad quality i watched it in or that the graphics werent quite smoothed out but honestly in my opinion this movie craps all over any movies ive ever seen any other countries make when trying to take a stab at dragon movies, personally i would rate this one right up there with dragon heart, say what you want but for ppl using this for an opinion as to whether or not to watch this movie think bout this, if you watched a movie and loved it would you really go out of ur way to find a site full of ppl bitching bout it just to praise it? no i didnt think so where as just about every person who hated it would find sumwhere to bitch and seeing as this movie was aired in 1500 cinemas in US alone that would make the list of ppl seeing it a LOT larger than this list of ppl so go, watch this movie, make ur own mind up bout it coz to be honest you cant rate a movie on opinions of a few ppl coz every1 has a different opinion
and personally i gotta say i loved it n cant wait to get a hold of the dvd if it gets released out here >.<
