Official Plot Synopsis

Firewall stars Harrison Ford as bank security expert Jack Stanfield, whose specialty is designing infallible theft-proof financial computer systems. But there’s a hidden vulnerability in the system he didn’t account for – himself. When a ruthless criminal mastermind (Paul Bettany) kidnaps his family, Jack is forced to find a flaw in his system and steal $100 million. With the lives of his wife and children at stake and under constant surveillance, he has only hours to find a loophole in the thief’s own impenetrable system of subterfuge and false identities to beat him at his own game.
Harrison Ford's modern movies may be bad, but at least his performances are. Mostly his work in these bad movies is just painfully mediocre. It's as if he's as disinterested in the movie he's making as we are. But at least his performance is never bad.
The frustrating thing about Harrison Ford is that he is still every bit as super-talented and charismatic as he was back when he played Han Solo, even at his advanced and Flockharted age. He just picks crap that bores him and bores us to make.
I can't figure out why. My theory is that he just doesn't care about making movies anymore, and he cares about his fans even less. I think all he really cares about is banging skeletons, fighting forest fires, and carving things out of wood.
I can respect that, after all I've never seen the attraction in making movies myself. I love watching them yes, but it looks like a bore to make the blasted things. I can respect a guy who is bored with his career and wants to do something else; sants to work with his hands. But if that's what he's into now, then he should stop making movies. Why this continued need to keep cranking them out? And if you're going to make them anyway, why not pick something interesting? Experimental maybe? Harrison, you'll still get paid if your movie is good. Maybe he's forgotten that. I can expect a guy who's bored with movies and wants to do other things, but I have a hard time putting up with a overpaid celebrity who keeps making them anyway because he knows he can get my money.
Enter Firewall, Harrison Ford's latest dip into my wallet. We've seen this one already, try another.
