Synopsis
Scott Free and Premier PR are pleased to make available the official Life in a Day trailer and announce the re launch of the YouTube channel - www.youtube.com/lifeinaday. This ground breaking film by Academy AwardŽ-winning director Kevin Macdonald opens in cinemas across the UK on 17 June. The idea was borne out of a unique partnership between Ridley Scott's Scott Free UK production company and YouTube. The film is a user-generated feature film, shot on a single day, July 24, 2010, that enlisted people around the world to capture a moment of their lives on camera.

People responded by submitting more than 80,000 videos representing over 4,500 hours of deeply personal, powerful films. Contributions poured in from 197 countries from Australia to Zambia, Peru to Ukraine, UK to Japan, from the heart of bustling cities to the furthest and most remote reaches of the earth. Many of the entries were submitted via YouTube whilst a number came from cameras that were handed out by contacts in the developing world.

Life in a Day brings together the most compelling footage, combining 331 clips into a 95-minute film, crafted by Kevin Macdonald, Executive Producer Ridley Scott, Producer Liza Marshall and their team. It shows in beautiful, humorous and joyful honesty what it is like to be alive on earth today. Life in a Day received its World Premiere to great acclaim at Sundance Film Festival in January of this year, where it was presented by Macdonald and 23 contributors from across the globe. Its European Premiere followed at the Berlin Film Festival.

After a brief theatrical release, Life in a Day has come full circle-- it's now available in its entirety on YouTube, or embedded below if you like. I saw the movie at Sundance and reviewed it there, and think the movie benefits from being watched in one sitting-- it's kind of hypnotic, and eventually very moving, to get wrapped up in all these mundane activities ...

A truly great film tries to capture some of that reality, be it a movie about a man trying to keep his family together or Bruce Willis surviving an explosion to try and save his wife....
