Weekend Box Office: Pain and Gain Pumps Up The Top Spot Weekend Box Office: Pain and Gain Pumps Up The Top Spot
Michael Bay scored one of the worst openings for one of his movies this weekend, but you won't hear him complaining too much. Turns out this was also one of his cheaper movies (one of only a few with a price tag less than $100 million). The $20 million debut was a comparably decent start against its non-special-effects-laden $26 million reported budget, and was enough to nab number on a slow weekend. ...

Dwayne Johnson Loses A Toe In Red Band Trailer For Michael Bay's Pain And Gain Dwayne Johnson Loses A Toe In Red Band Trailer For Michael Bay's Pain And Gain
After watching this trailer, I must admit that I'm curious just how far Bay will be pushing the content of his latest film, which he has previous compared to a Coen brothers movie, rather than being like his more recent Transformers fare....

Mark Wahlberg Gets His Pump On In New Pain & Gain TV Spot Mark Wahlberg Gets His Pump On In New Pain & Gain TV Spot
This has to be one of the grander experiments of 2013, no? Bay, of course, isn't known for his carefully tuned storytelling, but has likened this project to a dark comedy a la the Coen brothers. The trailers still show plenty of flash, but the laugh are there. If this were a creature at the zoo I'd stare at it for hours out of curiosity....

Pain & Gain Poster Has Dwayne Johnson And Mark Wahlberg Looking Muscled And Serious Pain & Gain Poster Has Dwayne Johnson And Mark Wahlberg Looking Muscled And Serious
When we shared the first poster released for Michael Bay's 2013 action-comedy Pain & Gain, Eric pointed out that most posters for Bay's movies are "filled with super star A-list actors not looking back at the bomb they just set off." The newest poster borrows some of that concept, putting two of its A-listers front and center, but trading explosions for an American flag backdrop. ...

Pump Your Guns With The First Teaser Poster For Michael Bay's Pain And Gain Pump Your Guns With The First Teaser Poster For Michael Bay's Pain And Gain
Michael Bay's Pain and Gain won't be out until April of next year, but apparently the marketing push has already begun. The film is a big experiment for the director as it's been described as Coen brothers-esque dark crime comedy, which should be very different than what we usually expect from a Michael Bay movie (Read: explosions and mayhem)....

Michael Bay's Pain And Gain Gets A Release Date Michael Bay's Pain And Gain Gets A Release Date
Michael Bay has always been a summer movie king. Since the first Bad Boys - which came out in April - every single one of the action director's movies have been released during the summer, from the Transformers trilogy to Armageddon. His next film, however, which has been described as a "Coen brothers-esque" dark crime comedy, that streak will officially be broken, as it's been announced that Pain and Gain will be coming out on......

Ken Jeong Joins Michael Bay's Pain And Gain Ken Jeong Joins Michael Bay's Pain And Gain
Michael Bay has described his next film, Pain and Gain, as being similar to a Coen brothers crime film, but that's not the only way he seems to be emulating the Oscar winning siblings - he's reusing his old castmembers as well. He already has Ed Harris (The Rock) as well as John Turturro (the Transformers trilogy) and now he's added yet another Bay veteran....

Michael Bay Hires Screenwriter Scott Rosenberg To Punch Up Pain & Gain Michael Bay Hires Screenwriter Scott Rosenberg To Punch Up Pain & Gain
Rosenberg will polish Bay’s shooting script, which follows two Miami bodybuilders who dabbled in kidnapping and extortion but saw their criminal “empire” come to a convoluted close when things go awry. Comparisons have been made between this based-on-true-events story and the Coen Brothers’ Fargo, which sounds fantastic … if Bay can pull it off....

Michael Bay is a man that knows what he likes and one thing that definitely fits in that category is beautiful women. John Turturro May Reunite With Michael Bay For Pain And Gain John Turturro May Reunite With Michael Bay For Pain And Gain
Pain and Gain will be Bay's first real comedy, which carries with it a lot of risks and potential for overblown action that takes away from what's actually funny. But he's at least attracting a lot of good actors, and has at least found something to do other than crash giant robots together-- a relief for those of us who think the guy does have a little bit of talent...

UPDATE: Michael Bay Wants Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson For His Bodybuilding Comedy UPDATE: Michael Bay Wants Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson For His Bodybuilding Comedy
Both actors have had discussions with Bay, though Johnson’s closer to signing than Wahlberg. The story would be adapted from an article that ran in Miami New Times back in 1999. Michael Bay's Crime Comedy Pain And Gain Compared To Fargo Michael Bay's Crime Comedy Pain And Gain Compared To Fargo
It's been described as in the vein of Pulp Fiction, and Bay called it "a fun character piece. No action. One car crash." Sounds about as un-Bay as you can get, but according to Bay and screenwriters Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, Pain and Gain has been moved to the front burner...
