Stars Mo’Nique as Jazmin Biltmore, a smart-mouthed aspiring fashion designer. PHAT GIRLZ is an edgy comedy about two frustrated plus-size women obsessed with their weight while struggling to find love and acceptance in a world full of "hot bodied" babes. The PHAT GIRLZ are thrown a major curve ball when they meet the men of their dreams in the most unexpected of ways.
Coming soon... maybe. The movie is called Phat Girlz and actually stars fat women. I mean, what else is there to say?

I am grateful that Phat Girlz was made. The issue that was addressed was not that we wll have to be fat, but that we should love the skin we are in. We we not all made to be a size 2 or 6. That is fine, for there are some women that would look sick at that size. However, we should strive to be healthy. There are plenty of thin people ready to fall over because of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, poor food quality intake, lack of water consumption and so forth. It is not about the size, but the health of the person. We should not let the media determine how we value ourselves. Love who we are, whether we are short, tall, petite, thick, slim and so on.
I render that African, Afro-American, Wes Indies have a lot in common
They all love fuller women...I'm Wes Indies And live in America..Mo'Nique has a wonderful personality, beautiful face and looks very good in her clothes. About Fat versus skinny it depends on the individual. When you are a heavier woman you must dress according to size and respectfully. The movie was about acceptance; and learning to love yourself , and the build God blessed you with. Like the lead man in the movie said " you'll never be a size 5" we as people need to except who we are and not what people think we should look like. some thin women who where skimpy outfits to show all their assets, and don't look good. In the end character and class is what will stand out. I've dated not so handsome, to cute , fine, and heavy, when you give someone a chance You really get to know their heart.I have plenty of Nigerian friends and the party they portrayed in the movie is what I experienced. By me being an Jamaican American. People look At me and think that I'm lying about my culture because of my light tan skin, and long thick wavy hair. I get confused with Purtorican or anything light, or white. You know why just like society said you must be slim, light not to dark, with long hair, Which is bull mess!!!! All of my people are Beautiful; Heavy, Tall, skinny, slim, short course hair to the long and thick hair. and we as a people need to STOP letting society put a label on beauty!
I have to agree with Yemi. I love the movie also. I am proud that the "Yoruba" Nigerian influence was part of this movie. This is the first motion picture movie that I have ever seen linking"African American" culture with "African" Cultural traditions and it is about time. Yes, the movie displayed that Nigerians are intelligent, have beautiful homes, are hospitable and educated. Most portrayals of African's in movie's is of war, famish and proverty. Okay, the maid did not speak English and of course there are some Nigerians who may not speak english well based upon not having proper education. I believe the movie portrayed women being acepted in all shapes and sizes opposing different thoughts than western culture. However, Monique did an excellent job in making this film conscious about who we are as a people. Perhaps if we could keep this visibility up in mainstream media it will help mediate and bridge the gap between the two worlds and we will have more understanding of one another and will make our race unite as one. USING THE RESOURCES AND ADVANTAGES OF AFRICAN AMERICANS WITH THE DIVERSE AFRICAN STRENGTH, SPIRIT AND BRILLIANCE WILL GIVE US A GREATER POWER.
I dont see anything wrong with the way Nigerians were portray in the movie beacuse i have seen the movie and i am a Nigerian too.It is true that Nigerian men love Plump, fleshy women with fat butts and rounded boobs. F rankly, it is an African thing, but that does not mean that we do not like slim girls too.
In any case Nigerians are going western now and the culure is changing as foregn influence is begining to change our perception of what a beautiful woman should look like, but the Plumpy, fleshy concept is still there, it has not changed much.i believe that individual tastes will eventually become the deciding factor on what a beautiful woman should look like.
On English speaking,Nigerians are either highly educated, averagely educated or illiterate.I beleive that mush of it is portrayed in the movie. Dr.Tunde speaks good Egnlish.I dont think Nigeria was negatively portrayed, instead much of our culture was promoted;our food, dress, and music.I love the Movie.
i give monique appluse for that brilliant performance, but i disagree with the way we Nigerians were portray, no one ever say something good about us; every movie i have watched potraying us, it's always a negative one, i wish you all could just either stop the negativity or stop using nigeria as your africa country in your movies period; i mean we are not all "fat" and yes our men do like slim women too, we also are an english spoken country and as a matter of fact the best ever in africa so don't portray us as people who dont speak nor understand english, we deserve a big apology from whom/ all that it is due
Nobody wants to see fat chicks running around complaining about how they're fat. Get your mouth out of the fridge... That's whats wrong with american women anyway, you all eat and eat without thinking about anything... then you complain that you're fat... Go get on a diet and stop all your whining...
