Well we have a teaser trailer now, and it’s exactly the sort of thing you’d expect from Lucas… good. The man may not have a clue about how to make good movies these days, but he’s a master marketer. Like the trailers for both The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, the trailers for Revenge of the Sith are beauties. Perhaps ithey trade a little too heavily on the looming visage of Darth Vader, but at this point isn’t seeing cinema’s baddest baddie the only thing we all still care about anyway?

The real highlight for me is wookies and not CGI wookies either. Men in suit wookies, which is exactly how wookies should be. Whether or not the trailer wookie is about to go crowd surfing I leave to your imagination, but George has gotten us all excited about one of his movies again, this time by showing original trilogy imagery… since those are the only movies he’s made that everyone doesn’t hate.

In the past I haven’t started talking about films in the preview section until there was at least a trailer out to overanalyze. Well you folks aren’t happy with that, so this will mark the first of a new kind of preview page on CinemaBlend.com… the irrelevant kind.

Look, Star Wars: Episode III is really still a long way off. We haven’t seen any real movie footage or even a legitimate poster yet, so it’s hard to say with any certainty what this movie will turn out to be. But the trailer could be coming any day, and Lucas’ past work gives us a pretty good idea.

What we know for certain is that the movie will feature a lot of CGI overuse. I have to believe it’ll be PG, so forget all this talk about it being “darker”. Define darker. Darker than Finding Nemo? Ok maybe. But this isn’t exactly Donnie Darko. Fall to the darkside or not, the Star Wars prequels are primarily for kids and will no doubt remain so, even if Anakin gets thrown into a pool of lava by Obi Wan and ends up coming out as a the masked freako we all know and love as Darth Vader.

Vader by the way is the only real reason to be excited about Episode III. We all know it, let’s just come out and say it. The new movies have beaten our collective excitement for new things named Star Wars about the head, and the mistreatment of the original movies on DVD has dimmed our love of what once was. But Vader remains cool. Lucas can’t possibly screw up Vader, can he?

Until there’s an actual trailer for this film, this page is primarily a place to go to get all the latest Star Wars news in one spot. We’ll keep this page updated with the basics, like cast changes and release date info. EIFF 10: The Hunter Review
Potentially good short ruined by stretching it to feature length.
