Official Plot Synopsis

Inspired by a true story, Antonio Banderas stars as internationally acclaimed ballroom dancer Pierre Dulane in the family drama Take The Lead. The film revolves around a professional dancer who volunteers to teach in the New York City public school system. But when his classic methods clash with his students' hip hop instincts, he teams up with them to create a new style of dance and becomes their mentor in the process.
This is Antonio Banderas’ way of being on Dancing with the Stars, without any of the failed career stigma attached to an appearance on one of the few television shows worse than American Idol. Say it ain’t so Antonio!
Banderas has just never lived up to all of his potential. He’s had some great roles like The Mask of Zorro, but he wastes too much of his time doing throwaway garbage like this.
I'm probably the only guy who thought Rufio actually was pretty cool in Hook, but whatever you thought of him before, he is now decidedly less cool. The kid who played Rufio stars opposite Banderas in Take the Lead, and if he's battled against some terminal illness and lost I apologize, because now he looks a lot like a cancer victim. Having been a cancer victim, I know what I'm talking about.
But maybe it's just lupis and Rufio will work up the muster necessary to teach Antonio Banderas a few moves in the latest ghetto kids dance to success movie. Will there be a rich, white, love interest to inspire the multicultural males? Only time will tell.
