The characters of C.S. Lewis’s timeless fantasy come to life once again in this newest installment of the “Chronicles of Narnia” series, in which the Pevensie siblings are magically transported back from England to the world of Narnia, where a thrilling, perilous new adventure and an even greater test of their faith and courage awaits them.

One year after the incredible events of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” the Kings and Queens of Narnia find themselves back in that faraway wondrous realm, only to discover that more than 1300 years have passed in Narnian time. During their absence, the Golden Age of Narnia has become extinct, Narnia has been conquered by the Telmarines and is now under the control of the evil King Miraz, who rules the land without mercy.

The four children will soon meet an intriguing new character: Narnia’s rightful heir to the throne, the young Prince Caspian, who has been forced into hiding as his uncle Miraz plots to kill him in order to place his own newborn son on the throne. With the help of the kindly dwarf, a courageous talking mouse named Reepicheep, a badger named Trufflehunter and a Black Dwarf, Nikabrik, the Narnians, led by the mighty knights Peter and Caspian, embark on a remarkable journey to find Aslan, rescue Narnia from Miraz’s tyrannical hold, and restore magic and glory to the land.

Somewhere in amidst the religious community’s massive push to claim Chronicles of Narnia as their exclusive property and use it as a recruiting tool, the truth about The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe went unnoticed. That being that it’s really good. Andrew Adamson did an amazing job of adapting C.S. Lewis’s material and in fact found more depth in it than the rather simple children’s book Lewis wrote originally did. Adamson fleshed the story out into stunning life, and he’ll return to do it again for the second film in the fantasy series, Prince Caspian.

But he’d better hurry. As with Harry Potter, the clock is ticking here. The film’s child stars aren’t getting any younger. By the time the second film hits theaters, the oldest of the children, William Moseley, will be 21. Ouch.

They’ll get the second film done, but doing a third may be a problem. Only the youngest two kids show up in movie number three, but even they’ll be nearly 17 by the time Prince Caspian hits theaters. What I’m saying here folks is enjoy this one, because the formula will have to change for any subsequent movies.

For The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian though, expect more of the brilliant filmmaking that made the first film work so well. Adamson and his entire cast return to bring more of Aslan’s land to life. The respect they’ve earned with the success of the first film should only help make this movie better. If Disney is smart, they’ll give Adamson whatever he wants to make it. Hopefully that also includes a bigger budget to upgrade their computer animation. On the last movie, their CGI artists were rushed, and it showed. With more time, more money, Prince Caspian should be even better than Wardrobe.

  1. Atreides Says:

Wow, you really liked Narnia that much? Honestly, I thought that it was a painfully flat and lifeless translation of the book--down to or lower than the level of the first two Harry Potter movies. I still gained a little enjoyment from it (Tilda Swinton!!), but I can't say that I'm looking forward to Prince Caspian with anything more than faint curiosity. I'll only really see it if nothing else is opening that weekend.

  1. Noriko Takaya Says:

Lord of the Rings spoiled me for this sort of thing. Had that trilogy not come out I would have given Narnia a pass. As it is, Narnia looks like crap even next to the last three Potter flicks - not to mention Jackson's masterpiece. It tried too hard to cram too much into too little space, and lacked. . .I don't know. . .a certain poetry. Maybe this one will be better. Maybe.

  1. Crazy PEOPLE! Says:

Harry freaking Potter...? that is what your comapring The Cronicels of Narnia to? Please get a grip people. Classic stories agaist a book that was written not to long ago (thats being made up as it movies are being produced) about a dumb kid a a scar on his forehead... No symbolism , no kind of meaning behind it ? PLEASE!!! Its redundant to talk abou this ...No comparison. Crazy people!!

  1. Bobby Says:

ok first off the LWW went almost word for word with the book. great job on that. second lord of the rings was good until I saw all three of em together. only the two towers was able to hold my interest. as far as the children getting older, great! if anyone had actually bothered to read prince caspian youd know that the children were older, and if you think about it, how ridiculous would a 12 year old fighting against a fully grown, well-trained, and seasoned warrior like miraz, be? (especially when he won, well okay so sopespian and the other guy killed miraz but not before he was on the ground defeated by peter.)

  1. Gavin Bollard Says:

Personally, I prefer HP to Narnia, but I do agree that the tales in Narnia are classics. When comparing tales, you need to remember that LOTR is for Adults, HP is for Teens and Narnia is for Children - the only rung lower down than Narnia is probably Enid Blyton - so give CS Lewis a break...

It was silly to use children so old for the first film.

  1. redbeard Says:

ehm... CRAZY PEOPLE! you're a bit harsh, aren't you. Comments that aren't polite would be removed and you're comment is polite, but you are getting some people really angry if you say things like that. You should'nt say anything about harry potter if you haven't read the books and you clearly did not read the books. Judge the films if you want to, but judging the books isn't fair. I haven't read the narnia series and I found the film indeed somewhat flat and very lotr rip off. Just because they mension God and Jesus in a film, doesn't make it a better movie and it does'nt have to mean there is more meaning behind it.

  1. Lenat Says:

Alright there seems to be allot of mud slinging on all the current "fantasy" movies. But I have to say, They're all good in their own right. I like Harry Potter, But it's a totally different genre then Narnia, Same with Lord of the Rings. The point is you can't compare them.

I for one am looking forward to the next movie. Although it seems like a forever wait. But I won't judge it by how close it is to the book. Let's face it. It's two different styles. One writen and you can get tons of detail and point of views that you lack when using a media format... All i'm saying is don't be to harsh... As long as it's entertaining and atleast follows the story-line of the book don't stress it. Just because they didn't put the scene in when "Johnny looked at the cup, and wanted to chunk it at billies head" don't automaticly think "this movie is a disgrace!"^^

  1. Abril Says:

The wait may seem like forever, but at least we have the Golden Compass to look forward to. The new images look solid, they just seem to be missing the CGI daemons. If the CGI is as good as the set design and wardrobe (not to mention great casting), we are in for a darkly imaginative treat

  1. Hardik Says:

Its true redbeard, the comments of Crazy people should not be allowed. Its individual view which is presented here.

This is about the movie not related to the classic novels or the recent one. The thing is that movie should be good.

Comparision with other movies is needed to give the real rating. And I do say that lotr and HP were better than first part.

But expecting something better from the coming MOVIE.

  1. semicrazy Says:

I agree with Lenat. LOTR, Narnia, and HP are very different, but yet very alike. They are 3 different authors. With 3 different perspectives on fantasy, and 3 different goals. Also, Tolkien and Lewis were alive in the early 1900's for when they wrote the book. They were ment to be classics, and ment for the people of that time to read and understand the deeper parts. Where Rowling is writing the books in this time period where her main goal is to sell the books and base the story on the understanding and interests of today's people.

And to Gavin Bollard, yes "at first glance" you'd think Narnia for kids, HP for teens and LOTR for young adults. But really all ages of people watch and read the books. And depending on the ages each person has a respect for the movies.

Now if your a person whos agreening with one comment, then read another and agree with thats one , then change your mind again. Remember that the older the person that posted it usually the more respect and open perspective that person will have for all the movies and a comparison. Then the younger usually go with a first gut feeling on how they liked how the movie went along with the book and also if its popular with their friends or not.

Personally I loved Narnia and LOTR. And not so much HP. But im not comparing. But I do think Adamson did a very good job with the movie and cannot wait for Prince Caspian!!

  1. Alexx Says:

the lion / witch / wardrobe was a FANTASTIC MOVIE - hopfully prince caspain will be as Fantastic as well i do hope better + cant wait 4 it 2 come

  1. Alexaaa Says:

i'm Exited to Watch the Movie. The First one was Amazing! :)

  1. Bethany Says:

I thought the first movie was excellent!! there were a few place that the effects weren't very good but yea. We saw it on opening day and every1 there was at least happy with the movie. Being a christian im glad it had such a strong message in it but i know so many people who enjoy the movie throughly and never even got the christian symbolism in it. i can't wait for the next movie, i hope they fix the graphic errors they had in the last one so that doesn't happen again

  1. preezy Says:

the first movie was not anything; prince caspian (the book) is moderately amusing, if only to introduce necessary characters and establish the premise for the third, and, arguably, greatest book in the collection- the voyage of the dawn treader. the third movie is the one everyone should be looking forward to. it has action and adventure, and mayhem on the high seas! if the book is properly adapted to the screen, it will easily outshadow it's two predecessors

  1. Jacinta Says:

Ok everyone, Firstly If you have actually bothered to read the Naria chronicles you would know that the movie was a fantastic adaptation of it as the books didnt give much filling and skimming over several parts like the battle so to see this on the screen was amazing.

Secondly the lard of the rings was meant for adults so it could be darker and more indepth and Narnia is meant for small children/ pre teens so it cant be to scary or no one would go see it.

Thirdly Harry Potter was written for children in our time, Narnia was written for children in war time, they didnt have video games, great clothing etc, they were more worried about being blown up and if their fathers were coming home alive. Thats what Narnia is about, being brave and being their for those you love. Harry potter is for kids today, It is fast pased and has alot of action and suspence.

There is no comparrison! They are all fantastic movies for who they were written for and the fact that they made such a fantastic movie out of teh Narnia books that would appeal to kids today is a statement as to how fantastic the movie really was!

  1. kyle Says:

this is cool that yall are coming out with the 2 one i hope it is good.

  1. jeff Says:

well i'm 25 and I loved the chronicles of narnia

  1. me Says:

to fight between CRAZY PEOPLE and redbeared
redbeared cp is right hp has no message, choronicles of narnia dose. all of the trilogy is based of the Holy Bible so C.O.N dose contain a meaning unlike hp witch has no meaning. but of corse we are all entiteled to our oen opinion

  1. pablo Says:

to preezy i hate to burst your bubble but the tird movie is "THE LAST BATTLE" the order of the movies are "THE WORDROBE" "PRINCE CASPIAN" and "THE LAST BATTLE" the way it works is that there are only 3 books in the trilogy that have all 4 children, the dawn tender only has two of the children

  1. F.R.O.G Says:

hey pablo, all of us who read the books already know that the dawn treadr only has two of the children, but it also adds another and then for the silver chair it has the new kid and another new kid but not any of the origional 4 pevensies. but that dosent mean they wont do the m because the last battle in the begining has the two new kids so how else would they explain that? theyve already skipped horse and his boy ! they better not skip any more . plus i assum the last one they do will probably be the magicians nephew because that book like star wars theyre filming them in the order the were written. plus i aggree with bethany that the alagory in the story is great and i too feel that not everyone sees the true back ground to the story. + there was some one up there i cany remember who who said we can look forward to the golden compass!? well my freind u have have some issues because that was written by a person who hates christians and God !! the only reason he wrote that movie was to try and draw kids away from their faith!!!! the whole subject of that movie is trying to tell people that God is evil when hes not hes the most wonderfull and just God . in the movie the golden compass they try and succsed to kill God! it is horrifying thougt . you couldnt pay me all the money in the word to see that movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. ann Says:

The children age in the book as well you know..Aslan does not allow the older children to come back after they pass a certain age until the final battle (last book) where they are expected to be older. And this is the movies, where we have tons of magic with computers, make up, and more. If they can make a faun, they can make someone look young~! Come on people, lets not nit pick.

  1. Narniafan1 Says:

PEOPLE...PLEASE!!!! Your all really annoying me by comparing Narnia to other movies there different! I agree with Jacinta and Semicrazy.

Harry Potter rocks.... Lord of the Rings sucks..... and the Golden compass is whatever. Were talking anout Narnia here not any other movie.I love LLW and I can't wait for Prince Caspian!!!!

Georgie Henley rox my sox and I can't wait to see her in the next film!!!

Skandar Keynes is an amazing actor!! I love him!!

Anna Popplewell is an angel and shes fantastic!!!!!!

William Moseley is a HUNK !!!!!! I LOVE HIM (TIMES 10)

so please people dont compare Narnia to other movies there all different

  1. Shansurri Says:

A few clarifying statements from a boring school teacher: We never actually know how old the children are in the books. They are school age, and Edmund is a little more than a year older than Lucy. That is all the books give, so we have to assume that any age children will work. The age of the actors will not matter, although if they look like adults, that may cause confusion.
For those looking for deep meaning, understand that the books average about 180 pages (depending on publisher). These are not epic novels like LOTR or HP. Different style completely. Think of Narnia as more like a fairy tale.

Now, for Prince Caspian, the movie. It appears from the trailers to be more action packed than the book was, but that fits with the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe-- the actual battle in the book is less than two paragraphs long! My only concern is that they appear to be fighting hard for a PG rating, and a rating of PG13 would definitely be a mistake, since the books are so obviously for younger readers as well as older readers.

Regarding those who argue about all the other books in the series, please relax. The Chronicles of Narnia don't follow the Pevensies, they follow Narnia. Once this movie is past, and they do the Dawn Treader, the rest of the movies (if Disney decides to do them all) can easily be cast with the adult actors from LWW, and new actors for other characters.

  1. ed Says:

this is a correction to pablo's statement above about the 4 pevensies being in the last battle. actually, only 3 are present. susan does not appear in the last battle because she gets caught up with the material world and did not die in the train accident. please correct me if i'm wrong.
i am so excited about the whole series finally being on film. the technology was not there to produce it any sooner.
    love to you all
