An emotional comedy about three brothers re-forging family bonds. The eldest, played by Wilson, hopes to reconnect with his two younger siblings by taking them on a train trip across the vibrant and sensual landscape of India.

The way some people get excited about the next movie from P.T. Anderson, I get excited about the next movie from Wes Anderson, no relation. We haven't had a new Wes Anderson movie since The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou in 2004, and it's been too long to wait. The Darjeeling Limited may not hit till the end of September, but I’ve already got on my red cap and Speedo.
The great thing about The Darjeeling Limited so far is that it looks a lot like a Wes Anderson movie. That’s a good thing, since looking like a Wes Anderson movie is usually the first thing I look for when seeing a Wes Anderson movie. I’m sure he could make his movie look like a Paul W.S. Anderson movie if he wanted, but I’m not really sure what would be served by having Owen Wilson take a big dump on the set. Being Wes Anderson is very, very good.
Strangely though, this particular Anderson movie has sort of snuck up on everyone. When it comes to Anderson, all the attention has been on the movie he’s putting out after this one, a stop motion animated movie called The Fantastic Mr. Fox. In all the excitement of Wes turning the stop-motion style we saw interspersed throughout Zissou, everyone seems to have forgotten about Darjeeling. Well don’t. The movie looks brilliant, and the early buzz is the usual glowing stuff Anderson always gets… and deserves.
