The Heat SynopsisUptight and straight-laced, FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) is a methodical investigator with a reputation for excellence--and hyper-arrogance. Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy), one of Boston P.D.'s "finest," is foul-mouthed and has a very short fuse, and uses her gut instinct and street smarts to catch the most elusive criminals. Neither has ever had a partner, or a friend for that matter. When these two wildly incompatible law officers join forces to bring down a ruthless drug lord, they become the last thing anyone expected: buddies. From Paul Feig, the director of Bridesmaids.

Melissa McCarthy Comedies Top Redbox's 10 Most Rented Movies Of 2013 List
If Redbox were a contest, Melissa McCarthy would be the winner of 2013. McCarthy is the common denominator among the top two movies on Redbox’s Top 10 movie rentals of 2013. Identity Thief and The Heat top the list, with World War Z and Flight coming in third and fourth respectively.

Forget The Heat 2 - A Spinoff Is In The Works
Comediennes Jamie Denbo and Jessica Chaffin play loudmouths Beth and Gina respectively, and brought a world of wild improvisation to the set that really made an impression on Feig, who'd previously worked with the pair on their Showtime pilot Ronna & Beverly back in 2012.

This Week In Home Entertainment: The Heat, Pacific Rim, Vikings, Defiance And More
Halloween hasn’t even happened yet, and we’re already at the first wave of huge releases set for the Holiday season. No, really. This week’s Hi Plains Drifter and The Untold History of the United States would look great in Dad’s stocking. Besides, what woman wouldn’t want a Blu-ray copy of the 10th Anniversary Edition of Love Actually? that comes complete with a heart-shaped ornament, just to prove it’s supposed to be a stocking stuffer.

Paul Feig Plans Gay Rom-Com And 9 Other Things We Learned Over Drinks
The event itself was a total delight, with Feig sharing his ardent enthusiasm for his comedy smash hits (Bridesmaids and The Heat ), as well as dishing out details on upcoming projects with Topher Grace, Channing Tatum and Jason Statham alongside cocktails and fancy courses like pineapple carpaccio, which is apparently a thing

Sandra Bullock Shuts Down Idea Of The Heat Sequel
Not only has it won critical praise, but also the R-rated buddy cop caper has proved a big hit for Fox, banking more than $150 million worldwide to date. With numbers like that, a sequel seems a no-brainer, but one half of the funny film’s leading ladies isn’t quite on board with for bringing back The Heat.

Did You Know There Are Ghosts In The Heat? Paul Feig Reveals All
Obviously this story isn’t credible journalism, as it comes from The Onion, but it’s such a left field joke that I wonder if fans of The Heat will watch the clip and become utterly perplexed by Feig’s dry humor.

Now That The Heat Is A Hit, Here Are 7 More Buddy Cop Pairs We Want To See
We haven't been this excited about seeing two mismatched cops take on a case since Murtaugh and Riggs first got on each others nerves, and we're already scheming up with more pairs of unlikely partners who we could see bring down the bad guys next. We've got 7 suggestions below, but we want to hear yours in the comments

Weekend Box Office: Monsters University On Top Again As The Heat Roasts White House Down
Channing Tatum... Jamie Foxx... Sandra Bullock... Melissa McCarthy... Those were the big names being tossed around television and internet commercials this week, but they didn't grab as much attention as two others: Mike and Sully.

White House Down Stumbles At Friday Box Office, While The Heat Takes Over
Alright, people, I don't know what else we can possibly give you. It's just before the Fourth of July, and you need something to see at the movies. Roland Emmerich, the guy who brought you Independence Day is back, and he's once again blowing up the White House. And the Capitol. And he's got Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx (as the President, for God's sake!) running around trying to stop the terrorists who did it

The Heat Mondo Poster Pays Tribute To '80s Action Movies
Scripted by Kate Dippold, who is best known for her work on MADtv and Parks and Recreation, The Heat centers on FBI Agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) and Boston cop Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy). While the two women couldn't possibly be any more different, from the way they live their lives to the way in which they go about doing their jobs, they are forced to team up when they go face-to-face with a powerful drug lord.

Is Melissa McCarthy's Photoshopping In The Heat Poster The Worst Ever?
Everyone knows what Melissa McCarthy really looks like, and unless CGI technologies have advanced to an unprecedented to degree, her actual face will be on display when the comedy The Heat opens later this month. But the above poster for the movie seems to be attempting to change McCarthy's face entirely

Sandra Bullock And Melissa McCarthy Try Good-Cop/Bad-Cop In The Heat Clip
I believe that Feig’s Heat will live or die based on the chemistry shared between these two funny ladies, and there’s tremendous interplay between Bullock and McCarthy that I think is going to help turn this into a smash hit.

Melissa McCarthy And Sandra Bullock Get Tough In First Clip From The Heat
If there's anyone who can save us from what feels like an uninspiring summer movie season, it's Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. The unlikely comic duo is teaming up for The Heat, the next film from Bridesmaids director Paul Feig that changes genres entirely, casting the two as FBI agents who aren't exactly good at working with partners

The Heat Screenwriter And Paul Feig Plan Another Female Comedy At Fox
The Heat director Paul Feig will be reuniting with Dippold for the project as both a director and a producer. Details on the untitled project are few, as it’s only being described as a “mother/daughter action comedy,” which places it squarely in the female-fronted area of fiction that comes so easily to Dippold and Feig.

Watch Sandra Bullock, Melissa McCarthy Share Oscar's Wardrobe Secrets In The Heat Ad
Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy both attended the Academy Awards on Sunday evening as presenters, though they did not share the stage at any moment. Instead, they appeared in a clever Oscar-centric commercial for their summer buddy-cop comedy The Heat, playing up the wardrobe secret that’s helping keep Hollywood’s hottest talents in place on Oscar night.

Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy's The Heat Pushes Release Date Back
Maybe Feig hasn’t finished The Heat yet and needed more time? The other theory is that Fox is so happy with the finished film that they’re confident it can out-perform its summer-movie competition. I’m really hoping that’s the case.

Sandra Bullock, Melissa McCarthy Continue To Crush In The Heat Trailer
Melissa McCarthy has two high-profile comedies rolling into theaters over the next few weeks. Yet, while her Identity Thief (with Jason Bateman) will reach area screens first, we’re kind of looking past that to the March release of The Heat thanks to hilarious new international trailers like this one, which recently landed online.

Sandra Bullock And Melissa McCarthy Are The Law In Red Band Trailer For The Heat
Writer/director Paul Feig has spent most of his career on his small screen, creating the series Freaks and Geeks and directing episodes of shows like The Office, Mad Men, Arrested Development, Weeds, Parks and Recreation and Nurse Jackie, but his career took in 2011. As the director of Bridesmaids he rode the success of that comedy to the top and we can only hope he stays there.

Sandra Bullock And Melissa McCarthy Gear Up In The Heat Trailer
The “buddy cop” formula went into hibernation a few years back, shelved by Riggs and Murtaugh when the latter actually did get “too old for this shit.” But it’s slowly making a comeback. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum teamed up for the hilarious 21 Jump Street earlier this year, and now Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy are strapping on the heat to play crime-fighting partners in the aptly-titled comedy The Heat.

MadTV's Michael McDonald Added To Paul Feig's The Heat
The late-night funnyman will play the film’s villain, with rumors claiming he might be cast as a Russian mobster. Feig’s leads are Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, teamed as and FBI agent and a Boston police officer forced to work together to bring down a criminal threat.

Demian Bichir Joins Paul Feig's Buddy Cop Comedy The Heat
Demian Bichir hasn't really shown his funny side in Hollywood feature films just yet, starring in titles like Che, A Better Life and Savages (none of which could come close to being called "comedies), but that doesn't mean he's not experienced. In addition to his multi-episode run on the Showtime series Weeds - which typically is more of a comedy than a drama...

Rob Corddry Could Join Melissa McCarthy And Sandra Bullock In The Heat
Corddry is currently in negotiations to join the film, but makes no mention of what his role may be. Though no one has yet been confirmed for the role of the movie's villain, I'm hoping Corddry will don a badge, as he was downright hilarious as the racist Homeland Security officer in Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay.
