It's hard to tell whether or not Avid Arad's latest bid to keep afloat the fading X-Men film franchise is really worth the effort.
Wolverine, the supposed origin story for the beloved character is being helmed by someone whose best known for directing a foreign language crime drama and the script, which is slightly more promising, is coming from the guy behind the powerful Stay and the disastrous Troy. The best thing it can offer in the way of personnel is the fact that Hugh Jackman is on board to resume his part as Wolverine. But another hopeful addition to the production team has been announced, not that it's someone who could save the day.
According to a release from The Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency, Harry Gregson-Williams, the man behind the scores for the Shrek movies and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, has been tapped to write the score for the movie. He's the fourth composer to tackle an X-Men project, and probably a good choice this time around. Given the director and the writer, this franchise spin-off film is likely to have a different feel from the previous films and Gregson-Williams' flexibility will be a vital part of tying it all together.
