It’s time to celebrate the Christmas/ Chanukah/ Kwanza/ Festivus Holiday season, so here at Cinema Blend we’re enjoying Twelve Days of Christmas. Yes, we know traditionally the “12 days” start with Christmas, but we plan on being celebrated out by that time, so we’re pushing the twelve days leading up to the holiday.
Here in Blend Tech, we’re celebrating with a geeky wish list. Sadly, these are gifts we’d love to have, but will only be able to wish about since they aren’t likely to exist anytime soon. That’s the joy of science-fiction and fantasy, imagining the future, it’s just a shame this stuff isn’t real yet.
On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…
A Time Turner
If you’re anything like me, your schedule is jam-packed full and you could use a couple more hours in the day. There’s no need for a full fledged time machine, just a way to add a tiny amount of time to get everything done. Thankfully the wizards of Harry Potter’s world have come up with exactly that kind of creation: a time turner.
Hermione Granger used such a device a couple of years into her education at Hogwarts. The time-turner allowed her to take more courses because she could go back a few hours and be in a different place. It made her a little tired and she had to make sure not to run into herself, but she got a lot more done. Imagine what you could do if you had access to such a thing.
Unfortunately, as with all of the things on our wish list, there’s no way to get your hands on a time turner at present. Not because they aren’t real (we all know that wizard world is just outside of the sight of us muggles), but because that impudent Harry Potter and his friends destroyed most of the time turners the Ministry of Magic had during his fight with he-who-must-not-be-named in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Sure, there are recreations out there, but they lack the actual ability to let you go back a little bit in time. Bummer that. Of all of the items on my wish list, this is the one I really, truly could use.
