12 Days of Christmas: The Weapon Of A Jedi

12 Days of Christmas: The Weapon Of A Jedi It’s time to celebrate the Christmas/ Chanukah/ Kwanza/ Festivus Holiday season, so here at Cinema Blend we’re enjoying Twelve Days of Christmas. Yes, we know traditionally the “12 days” start with Christmas, but we plan on being celebrated out by that time, so we’re pushing the twelve days leading up to the holiday.

Here in Blend Tech, we’re celebrating with a geeky wish list. Sadly, these are gifts we’d love to have, but will only be able to wish about since they aren’t likely to exist anytime soon. That’s the joy of science-fiction and fantasy, imagining the future, it’s just a shame this stuff isn’t real yet.

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

The weapon of a Jedi, a lightsaber, not crude like a blaster

Swords are fun to play with, but who hasn’t dreamed of having a real lightsaber at their disposal. You know you have – who else was it that spent hours waving around a broom handle while making lightsaber noises with their mouth? They look cool, with an assorted range of colors making them perfect for customization. They provide a means of self-defense, a way to illuminate a darkened path, and a hell of a way to carve your holiday turkey or ham. Just don’t let your Jedi masters find out what you’re using it for. I’m not certain they would approve.

Seriously, how cool would it be to have a lightsaber? What other weapon folds up to such a nice compact size and yet provides ample protection that cauterizes as it cuts? Replicas may be cool, but they take up far too much real estate as they don’t actually collapse down, or they fold up like a toy, making nothing threatening at all about them.

A real lightsaber may be out of the question right now, but I honestly think it’s only a matter of time. We’ve come up with equivilants for Star Trek’s communicators, tricorders, and even those fancy medical bay shots. It’s just a matter of time until someone develops a lightsaber too. Let’s just hope they manage to integrate all of the cool sounds. It just wouldn’t be the same without them.

Oh, and should you get the chance at a real lightsaber, avoid the red ones. Their users never come to good ends.
