CB Tube: Darth Vader In Love

With all the potential of the Internet, from YouTube to Google Video to all the things in between, who needs television? With that in mind, we present CB Tube, a weekly random selection of whatever appeals to us online. We select, you watch, just like real TV, but we make no promises about entertainment value… just like real TV.

I loved the Shakespeare in Love parody, George Lucas in Love that was making the rounds a few years ago. Because of that, I originally ignored the link to this week’s selection when former music-section writer (and occasional Weekly Blend guest) Brian Williams sent me the link. I’m glad I finally gave it a shot because this is one hilarious video clip.

Instead of a movie parody, Darth Vader in Love is a wonderful play on all those horrid love story clichés that pollute sitcoms and bad romance comedies. It probably wouldn’t be nearly as funny if it didn’t instantly remind me of the whiny portrayal of Anakin Skywalker before he put the armor on. This parody from The Peter Serafinowicz Show is a much more likely future for Lucas’s teenage angst-filled character than the classic Vader we all think of.
