CB Tube: The Flutist Beatboxer

With all the potential of the Internet, from YouTube to Google Video to all the things in between, who needs television? With that in mind, we present CB Tube, a weekly random selection of whatever appeals to us online. We select, you watch, just like real TV, but we make no promises about entertainment value… just like real TV.

Typically, I’m not a big fan of American Idol, but somehow I got dragged into last season. I was specifically unimpressed with Blake King, who took second place in the season. I was unimpressed because to hear excerpts of his performance on the radio doesn’t communicate how impressive he is as a beatboxer. It’s a visual performance thing that doesn’t translate as well in audio venues.

The same could be true of this week’s CB Tube subject: flutist (and beatboxer) Greg Patillo, who combines his two musical skills into one impressive performance. To hear about him isn’t anywhere near as interesting as seeing him at work, so take a look at the clip below, featuring Patillo’s rendition of the Super Mario Brothers theme:
