My perusal through the web as we watch Battlestar Galactica season 3 (the extended “Unfinished Business” episode is on…and is really just a bit too disjointed and blech overall) lead me to the picture you see to the right. The image comes courtesy of Boing Boing, but is really the work of legendary Disney imagineer Herb Ryman. Before there was Disneyland or Disney World, there was the sketchings of Herb Ryman. A man who had an intuitive sense of what Walt wanted, and could put those ideas onto paper. A feat that you may brush off as easy, but anyone who tries to understand Walt’s visions knows how grand they can be. Ryman was always right in step with Walt. Aside from the sketch, Ryman also was the artist who created the look of Main Street USA, Sleeping Beauty Castle and other aspects of the Disney parks. |
