Epcot Concept Sketch - Yay Disney!

There are a few things that are true in my daily life. I’m going to have to make something healthy, and hopefully delicious, for dinner. I’ll certainly at some point in the day yell at the cat. And my wife will work Disney World, and a return trip there, into some portion of our conversation. Disney trips are an event in themselves, and last time around we fell in love with the wonder that is Epcot. A hot and miserable park the previous trip was our most beloved spot to walk and enjoy the day last December.

My perusal through the web as we watch Battlestar Galactica season 3 (the extended “Unfinished Business” episode is on…and is really just a bit too disjointed and blech overall) lead me to the picture you see to the right. The image comes courtesy of Boing Boing, but is really the work of legendary Disney imagineer Herb Ryman.

Before there was Disneyland or Disney World, there was the sketchings of Herb Ryman. A man who had an intuitive sense of what Walt wanted, and could put those ideas onto paper. A feat that you may brush off as easy, but anyone who tries to understand Walt’s visions knows how grand they can be. Ryman was always right in step with Walt. Aside from the sketch, Ryman also was the artist who created the look of Main Street USA, Sleeping Beauty Castle and other aspects of the Disney parks.
