Are you David Hasslehoff’s biggest fan? Are you looking forward to the upcoming Knight Rider resurrection? Now you have a chance to own a piece of Knight Rider history: Michael Knight’s faithful steed, K.I.T.T. himself. The car was placed on eBay for auction, and although the auction has currently been suspended, according to Newsday, the car will be made available again.
The auction of the 1984 black Trans Am is being held to settle the estate of its owner, Andrew Kissel, a real estate developer who was killed last year. After his death, creditors claimed Kissel owed over $30 million, so his possessions were put up for sale. K.I.T.T. is the last of his belongings.
The auction for the car drew so much attention from press that the bids got out of control, prompting the attorney in charge to close the auction without a winner. When the auction was closed the winning bid was $40,100, but the car is clearly worth more than that. Kissel purchased it (also at auction) for $69,000.
Keep your eyes open for your chance to bid on K.I.T.T. in about a month, when Patrick R. Gil, the attorney in charge, returns from vacation and can devote more time to dealing with the auction.
