Microsoft Not Setting A Firm Release Date For 60GB Xbox 360

Microsoft claims that there is no actual “street date” for the new 60GB Xbox 360. It’ll just seep into retail channels and you’ll see it…whenever. I know MS has long had a stance that when they upgrade their current console it isn’t a big release event, and thus no thought is given to a release date. But what about people that are looking to buy an Xbox 360? Those future customers might be interested to know a better product could be at the store in a week or two.

Now that I have an 80GB PS3 I’m not so worried about what my 360 is doing with its hard drive. I’ll probably do the bulk of my downloading on Sony’s system. But this isn’t an upgrade to internal architecture. An increased HDD size is a prominent feature and as a customer I’d like to know what is available to buy. Otherwise I’ll plop down my money only to find out that two days later I could have gotten a far superior product. That doesn’t lend itself to customer loyalty.
