Alright, maybe the Treo isn’t for the typical iPhone buyer anyway. Most of you iPhonies are too busy trying to figure out whether three buttons or two is the proper amount to leave open on your too tight shirts to figure out how to install programs on Palm OS anyway. I however wear loose-fitting t-shirts emblazoned with ironic, videogame slogans so I have enough time to read the phone’s “War and Peace”-sized manual. So I’m pretty happy to hear that the Treo is sticking with what works, and refusing to get all caught up in this style over substance thing that seems to have overtaken the cellphone industry. Endgadget reports that Palm is standing by its plan to release a Linux-based relaunch of their Linux based Palm operating system in early 2009. Pundits have been clamoring for them to come out with something flashier, and Palm has already been offering their devices with an alternative Windows Mobile operating system, but it’s not the sort of thing you’d want to buy if you have any sense. It’s a piece of crap. Give me my old, reliable, Palm OS. I’m all for it. The only thing Palm really needs to change about the Treo is the casing, which could use some sort of side grip. It’s impossible to keep the thing in your hands. It’s kind of like trying to text in the shower while lathering up with a bar of Irish Spring. |
