Real Life Giant LEGO Indiana Jones Boulder

Ever since I saw the first video below, featuring the infamous opening boulder sequence of Raiders in LEGO form, I’ve been enthralled with the idea of Indiana Jones in block form. But it looks like some guys were far more motivated than I ever could be. A recreation of the film’s boulder, built to nearly the same size and with 5 million LEGO pieces is making the internet rounds today.

The best part is…well the whole thing. Guys dressed like fake Dr. Jones’ and Sallah’s, and then a push and run down a hill. I’ve read the Cinema Blend review of Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls and if the heartbreaking review can be believed – and personally I have a wary eye on Head Cynical Honcho, Josh Tyler – then this may be the most entertaining bit of ridiculous archaeological stunt work to be seen this week.

And yes, I know that the boulder is not solid LEGO. First of all, that would be as silly as using a real boulder for the movie. A Styrofoam core makes perfect sense. Let us also not forget that despite the boulder in the film and on the streets not being “real,” they could still do some major damage. Just ask the owner of that mini-van who probably had a hell of a time explaining things to the police. “Look officer, I don’t know what else to tell you. A man with a plastic idol was running along with a huge LEGO boulder following at a moderate pace. The boulder hit a tree and then my car.”

Video number two is where the action is. Please to enjoy.
