Recycle Old Gadgets At MyBoneYard

I have a box in my basement that’s filled with old gadgets that have been replaced or are just past their time. Off the top of my head the box has a couple of Sony Walkmans in there (which got me through high school), the first two or three cell phones I owned, and possibly even a CD player or two. Next to the box is a pile of monitors that still work, but I have no need for. What’s a geek to do with all this leftover, useless junk besides throw it away or attempt to pawn it off on some unsuspecting eBay user?

Dvice.com appears to have found one solution to rid the house of all of this junk – it’s a site that offers to recycle old technology, called MyBoneYard.com. The site doesn’t even charge you to take away your old technology. In fact, it sends you a free shipping label and might even pay you a few bucks to boot.

Don’t expect to make a living off your disused monitors and cell phones, however. This is junk we’re talking about, probably not worth the time auctioning off on eBay. Through their tests, Dvice was offered a whopping $63 for an old Mac Pro. Still, recycling old technology instead of just letting it pile up sounds like a good idea, and the fact that they’ll pay for the shipping, pretty much making this a costless service to the user, is a definite bonus. Now I just have to figure out what to do with that space in my basement where my monitors and box o’ gadgets used to be.
