Since before Blend Tech began I’ve been a fan of numerous tech websites and blogs, as can be seen in man of our posts crediting such sites with news. Engadget has always been at the top of my “too read” list, and master tech expert and editor extraordinaire Ryan Block was always a big part of that. Ryan has been a staple in the online tech journalism world for awhile now. So it came as a bit of a shock to read this morning that he has announced his resignation from Engadget.
Mr. Block will be leaving late next month to go work at a yet undisclosed new company. There’s no word on exactly what he’ll be doing, but let’s hope Ryan will continue getting us the breaking tech news we crave so damn much. Josh Topolsky will be taking over Ryan’s duties at Engadget, but don’t expect Block to disappear completely. He’ll stay on as editor-at-large and do the occasional story.
We at Blend Tech want to wish Ryan good luck in his future endeavors and we look forward to what he has to offer to the tech media market. Or whatever he ends up doing. For all we know he could be leaving Engadget to become a trapeze artist. I’ve always wondered what makes someone choose that type of career in the modern world and somehow it makes (no) sense that anyone would leave tech journalism to do that.
