According to The Hollywood Reporter and their “inside sources” Toshiba will be pulling the plug on the format in the coming weeks. Amidst the turmoil, and the possible death of HD-DVD, Jodi Sally, VP of Marketing for Toshiba still put on a happy face saying, ”[W]e continue to believe HD DVD is the best format for consumers, given the value and consistent quality inherent in our player offerings.” Toshiba and the HD-DVD camp have fought back with major price cuts, but it’s done little to alleviate the pressure.
