If Tony Stark were in need of a fire extinguisher for his Mark III armor it would most assuredly be based on Adam Scott’s X Sting Wish commercial extinguisher. This is more than a super cool gun toting anti-blaze weapon though. It’s designed to be more ergonomically friendly than the pull pin and squeeze nozzle of traditional fire extinguishers.
The device has LED lights on the side for nighttime missions. And yes, it looks like a weapon. The reason is our natural reaction to fire, or any threat really. We want to protect ourselves and families from any dangers. Unfortunately that means most people who wake up to a flaming living room will try to attack the fire with a weapon of some sort. Hence Scott’s design choice of a weapon. You can see what he’s getting at in the concept art below.
Maybe it’s just aesthetics but I’m pretty sure there’s Braille on the side of the device. That’s just another example of making sure everyone is protected. It’d be even better if the X Sting Wish beeped when it detected smoke or intense heat so that the blind could find it easily in an emergency. After that I guess they’d just point in the general direction of hotness. In any case Scott’s redesign of the fire extinguisher is a fairly ingenuous one. When fighting a fire would you rather have a limp hosed canister on your side or a serious weapon from Stark Industries?
