Friendspacebook Parodies Social Networking And CelebritiesAuthor: Rafe Telsch

Unlike other sites, where you are pretty much expected to be yourself, Friendspacebook expects you to make a profile that parodies a friend or a famous person. Among their front page cool profiles are “Drunk George W. Bush,” “Woody Allen,” and “Slutty Rachael Ray.” While digging around I visited a profile for Dan Rather where he bitches about the recent developments by CBS. In response Donald Trump is commenting that he’s fired and Rod Tidwell is offering advice on how Rather can see the money. Really this looks like one of those sites where the jokes just write themselves – you just have to go make them happen. Just to be clear here: this isn’t a serious social networking site. It’s a satirical parody of the other sites and shouldn’t be confused with the real thing. Much like the fake profiles on MySpace, I’ve already seen some people who appear to be confusing the parody for the real thing. Just remember: at Friendspacebook it’s okay to be fake.
