Unbreakable Quantum Encryption DemonstratedAuthor: Steve West

The system works on the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle. If you try to tap into the network and steal information it will detect the interference and shut down the link. Users won’t notice as the exchange switches to a new node. So how fast will this system be broken? MIT researchers were able to grab 40% of an exchange already just by reading the momentum of photons. Yeah, no matter how smart your design is there is always someone just a little smarter waiting to take you down. Quantum encryption is indeed extremely secure, and I have no doubt that governments around the world and financial institutions will look seriously at this as a solution. But the folly of calling it “unbreakable” can’t be understated. Essentially the researchers behind the system are saying, “We dare you to break our super awesome code.” And then answer will be, “OK.”
