That '70s Show's Laura Prepon Joins Netflix Series Orange Is The New Black
The upcoming Netflix series Orange is the New Black has added a That '70s Show alum to the roster. Laura Prepon, who became a household name playing Donna in the Fox comedy, has been cast as one of the ladies in orange – inmates in a federal prison - for the series which is described as a drama with comedic elements.
Prepon will play a fellow inmate and a little bit more to previously cast Taylor Schilling. Schilling plays the main character, based on the real-life Piper Kerman who wrote the book by the same name. Laura Prepon will play an ex drug runner who finds herself locked up. Contrary to previous information that lead me to believe it was an ex-boyfriend who landed Piper in jail, it now seems it was an ex-girlfriend – the role to be played by Prepon. That bit of information puts a whole new spin on this series. Are we talking about a Netflix show or a Cinemax show here?
Jason Biggs of American Pie fame has also been cast in the series as Piper’s fiancé Larry Bloom. I wonder how he feels about his future bride spending time behind bars with her ex-girlfriend? Orange is the New Black comes from Weeds creator Jenji Kohan, and is big news for Netflix, which is new to the world of original programming. In addition to bringing back Arrested Development. They’ve also got House of Cards, Lillyhammer and Hemlock Grove on tap. With some well-known names attached (Kevin Spacey and David Fincher are behind House of Cards), a year from now Netflix could actually be a contender.
