Star Trek Spoofed In Marc Maron's Web Series Maron In Space

The premiere of Maron is just around the corner and, in order to promote Marc Maron's new show, IFC has created a five part web series called Maron in Space which stars fellow comedian James Adomian. Spoofing Star Trek, “The Hive Mind” introduces Adomian as the confrontational podcaster dishing out his usual quips, only this time as Captain of the (microphone shaped) Starship Maroner.

For those who are familiar with Adomian, the incredibly funny and talented impressionist has appeared on a few TV series but is probably most recognizable as a voice on several podcasts including Scott Aukerman's Comedy Bang! Bang! Well, recognizable might not be the best way to describe the comic's voice since he's able to slip into several different characters with ease, including Jesse 'The Body' Ventura and Huell Howser.

Adomian also does many more recognizable names (and fictional figures) but those are two are my favorites. Oh, and his CB!B! episode as Tom Leykis, "Out of Bleeps" with Amy Poehler and Jason Mantzoukas, is another really special appearance. Not to say that his take on the acerbic comedian and podcaster during Maron in Space isn't also rather brilliant, particularly during the interactions with Maron's famous feline friends or simply his slouched sitting position on a stool behind the mic.

The web-series was produced by Funny or Die, written by Adomian and John Roy and directed by The Birthday Boys' Chris VanArtsdalen and Jefferson Dutton. Check out Eps 2-5, you might recognize the man who shows up in the finale. LOCK THE GATES!

Maron premieres on Friday, May 3 at 10:00 p.m. ET on IFC.
