HBO Go And Time Warner Cable May Be Close To A Deal

If, like me, you’re one of the 12.2 million HBO subscribers getting your cable through Time Warner Cable, it’s possible you’ve been not-so-patiently waiting to enjoy the perks of HBO’s online streaming video service HBO Go. While other cable providers have offered access to the website/app for months, paying Time Warner Cable customers have gone without, but possibly not for long!

Bloomberg.com got some inside information on a possible deal between Time Warner Cable and HBO Go. According to their unnamed sources, an agreement may be announced within the next several weeks. Negotiations have apparently been going on since May but (obviously) there have been delays.

HBO Go is a virtual buffet of HBO series streaming content, with dozens of HBO series, hundreds of movies and other features available to HBO users. If you’re paying for HBO on Dish, DirecTV, Verizon Fios or one of the other major cable TV providers (other than TWC), HBO Go comes with your subscription. If you’re a Time Warner Cable subscriber, it doesn’t. Given the features of the app and site, which could prove to be more frequently used than the actual channels (for those of us who don’t go anywhere without our laptops, iPads and/or any other HBOGo app compatible device), added to the fact that HBO has offered early-premieres of certain episodes through the app, a deal with Time Warner Cable is long overdue. Hopefully we’ll be hearing some more official news on the matter soon.
