This situation was looking grim for the CBS drama Unforgettable, which was left off CBS' 2012-2013 primetime lineup this spring. While fans may have had hope that the series might be rescued by another network, the assumption was that there would be no more Unforgettable on CBS. It looks like that won't be necessary now, as CBS has decided to move forward with the drama after all.
Unforgettable stars Poppy Montgomery as Carrie Wells, a woman who can't forget anything, and whose ability could be considered both a blessing and a curse - a blessing for her work as a police detective, but a curse in that she has no choice but to remember everything in her life. In addition to her work as a detective, the series' first season also explored the murder of her sister, which is the one thing Carrie isn't able to remember. The series wasn't doing that bad in the ratings, averaging about 12.1 million viewers, but CBS initially opted not to renew it for a second season.
Deadline states that, after CBS cancelled the series, CBS TV Studios was looking for a new home for it, with TNT and Lifetime among the mentioned networks approached to adopt the show. The site notes that the drama was the most-watched network TV show to get the axe this season, so it seemed like a good catch for another network looking to build on its original programming.
Fortunately for those who were disappointed by its cancellation, it's getting a reprieve. Come next fans will be able to find the show back at CBS. The network has given Unforgettable a 13-episode order, which will air Summer 2013.
