Toy Story TV Special Toy Story Of Terror Coming Fall 2013

When we talked to Pixar's Mark Walsh and Kim Adams this summer about the Toy Story animated short Partysaurus Rex, which screened ahead of Finding Nemo 3D, it sounded like there might be some new Toy Story projects in the works at Pixar, though neither Walsh or Adams could talk about it at the time. So it's exciting, though not entirely surprising, to learn that Pixar has a Toy Story Halloween special in the works.

Before you get too excited, we won't be seeing this special in time for this Halloween. From what PixarPlanet.com (via AWN.com) is reporting, Pixar is looking to get this Toy Story TV special on the air next fall, in time for Halloween. Entitled Toy Story of Terror, the special will have the Toy Story toys on a road trip that leads them to a roadside motel…

"What starts out as a fun road trip for the Toy Story gang takes an unexpected turn for the worse when the trip detours to a roadside motel. After one of the toys goes missing, the others find themselves caught up in a mysterious sequence of events that must be solved before they all suffer the same fate in this Toy Story of Terror."

Toy Story with a spooky twist? Sounds like a lot of fun! One of the things I loved about the recent Partysaurus Rex short was seeing what the toys were up to post-Toy Story 3. With the third and final film in the franchise leaving off (spoiler alert!) with Buzz, Woody and the rest of the toys being passed from Andy to Bonnie, the short was a great opportunity to check in with the characters and see what they're getting up to in their new home. Toy Story of Terror will be another chance to do that, and knowing the humor and attention to detail that the films and shorts have delivered in the past, I can only imagine what they'll come up with for this Halloween-themed special.
