12 Days Of Christmas: Seinfeld - The Pick

It’s time to celebrate the Christmas/ Chanukah/ Kwanza/ Festivus Holiday season, so all around Cinema Blend we’re enjoying Twelve Days of Christmas. Yes, we know traditionally the “12 days” start with Christmas, but we plan on being celebrated out by that time, so we’re pushing the twelve days leading up to the holiday.

Here in Blend Television we’re celebrating by counting down our some of our all time favorite holiday episodes, in an effort to boost your Christmas spirit. These aren’t the 12 best out there by any means, just twelve of our favorites. Some of them you might enjoy like we do. Others you might want to check out for the first time. So without further ado:

On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

A Nip

Only on Seinfeld can a holiday themed episode focus almost entirely on a nipple and a bit of nose picking. “The Pick” is one of the real classic episodes of the series. Elaine decides that for the holidays, she’s going to send out a picture of herself to everyone she knows as part of her Christmas card. She makes the huge mistake of allowing Kramer to dress and photograph her for the occasion. After her assistant sends the cards out, Jerry brings it to her attention that her nipple is exposed in the image. Just how the exposed nipple escaped Elaine’s notice while the picture was being taken or at the very least, when she looked at the picture before it was sent out, we will never know. In the end, like so many of the random catastrophes that took place on this infamous show about nothing, it doesn’t really matter.

While Elaine is dealing with being called “Nip” at work and screamed at by relatives for sending out the picture, George is trying to get over Susan and Jerry is trying to make a go of it with a model he met on a plane. George gets his Christmas wish when Susan does eventually consent to date him again. In the meantime, Jerry’s model girlfriend catches him scratching his nose. She thinks it’s a “pick” but no amount of arguing on Jerry’s part can convince her that it was merely a scratch and their relationship ends as quickly as it began.

In terms of Christmas episodes, this one isn’t exactly filled with holiday cheer but Elaine’s nip-trastrophe was easily one of the funniest situations her character has ever been in. And the moment when she gives George a preview of the Christmas card by shoving his face into her chest is high on the list of hilarious Seinfeld moments.
