Tracy Morgan To Star In Death Pact Comedy For FX

Tracy Morgan may have found his next small screen starring role. The actor and comedian is set to star in a comedy pilot for FX called Death Pact, which comes from Rob Long and Tad Safran. He'll play a pot-dealing assistant high school coach, which not only sounds like a fun role for Morgan, but also a fitting character for FX, when we consider the humor featured in shows like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Wilfred.

THR says Death Pact will have Morgan playing the mentioned pot-dealing character, who's not only an assistant high school coach, but has also returned to his hometown as a decorated war hero. The plot thickens from there, as he runs into three former students and manages to lure them into his self-help philosophy, "which involves harsh consequences for failure." Consequences like death? That would explain the title. Again, this sounds like a funny project for Morgan, who's made a name for himself with his sense of humor, which he put to good use in NBC's 30 Rock. We'll have to wait and see if Death Pact makes it to series.

We haven't seen a whole lot of Morgan since 30 Rock wrapped up earlier this year, but we'll be hearing his voice in the upcoming sequel to Rio, as well as Laika's adaptation of Alan Snow's Here Be Monsters, titled The Boxtrolls. I'm particularly excited about that one. Morgan's also credited for a role in David O. Russell's comedy Nailed, which is listed as in-production. Assuming things go well for Death Pact, it sounds like we'll have plenty of Tracy Morgan to look forward to on the big and small screen.
