Game Of Thrones Gets The Honest Trailer Treatment

As the return of Game of Thrones approaches, those clever Screen Junkies folks have given the Honest Trailer treatment to the HBO fantasy series, filling a 5-minute video with plenty of series spoilers in the process. But you would have caught the pretty major spoiler warning in the video if you watched it already.

In the spirit of the Honest Trailer, the video takes a much more candid (occasionally sarcastic) approach to teasing the first three seasons of Game of Thrones, playing particular emphasis on some of the things I'm sure many of us have dealt with while watching this "midlevel encyclopedia/dungeon master's guide/porno," like trying to remember all of the characters' names or wondering why more people in Westeros aren't concerned about the invasion of ice zombies that's threatening to kill them all. Or wondering what will happen next, while people who've read the book act all smug because they already know.

In addition to a segment that focuses on Tyrion (Joffrey slap!) and one that refers to Joffrey as King Justin Bieber, the video also features montages that point out that everything in Westeros is the thing of nouns ("Lord of Light," "Master of Coin," "Mother of Dragons," etc). Daenerys' vengeance is taking forever. Everyone who is in any way close to Sean Bean dies. And boobs. So many boobs everywhere!

Yup, that's about right.

Screen Junkies' "Honest Trailers" segment typically focuses on movies. We've seen one done for 300, Man of Steel and even Frozen:

But they've tossed some sarcasm in the direction of the small screen before, including this one for Breaking Bad:

And The Walking Dead:

I would really like to see one for HBO's Girls and AMC's Mad Men.

Game of Thrones premieres Sunday, April 6 on HBO.
