True Detective Season 2 Just Added All Of These People

TV buzz doesn’t get much bigger than it does for HBO’s True Detective, whether the topic of discussion is quote meanings or potential cast members. Thankfully, the trek towards Season 2 is in full swing, and the anthology drama just added four new cast members to join the four actors that were previously confirmed. Each of the four are in differing levels of negotiations with HBO.

As a brief refresher, True Detective Season 2 will take place in California and centers on three police officers – played by Taylor Kitsch, Rachel McAdams and Colin Farrell – who are investigating a murder and the giant conspiracy that spirals out of it. Vince Vaughn will play a criminal and business partner of the murdered man, and here’s where the new cast members will fit into things, according to Deadline.

”abigail

Abigail Spencer

Abigail Spencer’s character doesn’t have a name just yet, but she’ll be playing someone who survived a sexual attack. The actress is a TV vet, getting her start on All My Children and starring in such series as Mad Men, Suits and, most recently, Rectify. She’s currently filming Daniel Zelik Berk’s thriller Damascus Cover and can be seen in theaters now for Shawn Levy’s This is Where I Leave You.

”michael

Michael Irby

Michael Irby, arguably best known for his work on The Unit, will play the partner of McAdams’ detective, and it says he’s “now named Elvis.” (Not sure what that means.) Irby has been on seemingly every show on TV in the last five years, and he was most recently starring on Fox’s Almost Human and Lifetime’s The Lottery, both of which have been cancelled. Look for him next year on CBS’ CSI: Cyber.

”leven

Leven Rambin

Leven Rambin has taken the role of Sophia, a good looking lady with a history of drug addiction. The Texas actress was also on All My Children, and had recurring roles on CSI: Miami and The Tomorrow People. On the film side, she starred in The Hunger Games and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, with Max Nichols’ Two Night Stand next up for her.

”Kelly

Kelly Reilly

British actress Kelly Reilly has the vaguest description of all, as she’ll play the “self-possessed Morgan” and has an IMDb credit of “Wife.” She played Watson’s love interest in the Sherlock Holmes films and gained her TV cred in the U.K. on the crime drama Above Suspicion. She most recently found U.S. audiences for a brief time with Black Box and the feature Heaven is for Real.

True Detective Season 2 will hit HBO at some point in 2015.
