Spartacus Is Coming To The Flash To Play This Comic Book Character

Over its three seasons, Arrow has brought on many actors who previously starred in the Starz TV series Spartacus. These names include Manu Bennett (Slade Wilson, a.k.a Deathstroke), Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Amanda Waller), Katrina Law (Nyssa al Ghul) and Nick Tarabay (Digger Harkness, a.k.a. Captain Boomerang). Now, the CW's other comic book show, The Flash, is getting visited by a Spartacus actor, and it’s none other than the titular character himself! That’s right, Liam McIntyre, who took over the role of Spartacus after the original actor Andy Whitfield passed away, will be stopping by Central City later this season to antagonize the Scarlet Speedster as the new Weather Wizard.

According to Comicbook.com, McIntye will debut as Mark Mardon in Episodes 16 and 17. The first metahuman that Barry Allen fought in The Flash was Mark’s brother Clyde (played by Chad Rook), a bank robber who was able to control the weather. Barry was able to defeat Clyde, but it was Joe West who killed him before he could shoot Barry. Mark, who was Clyde’s partner-in-crime before the particle accelerator explosion, will return to Central City to seek “justice” for his brother’s death by going on a rampage to find Joe.

Weather Wizard Flash

Although Clyde was the show’s first Weather Wizard, Marc Mardon is the original Weather Wizard from the comics. He was introduced in 1959, and over the decades he has frequently fought the Flash both on his own and as a member of The Rogues. He originally used a wand that allowed him to produce unusual weather patterns, but in the New 52 he gained weather-controlling powers from the same device that gave Captain Cold, Heat Wave, Mirror Master and Golden Glider their abilities. The show has opted to forgo the technology in favor of making him a metahuman, but the description the original article provides says that Mark’s powers are “similar” to Cyde’s weather control abilities, so we may not see an exact replication of what Clyde pulled off in the pilot.

It should be noted that Episode 16, titled “Rogue Time,” will also feature Leonard Snart’s sister Lisa, which could also mean an appearance from Captain Cold himself. Going off that and the episode title, this might mean we see Mark recruited into The Rogues, which we will see being formed when The Flash returns on January 20 with the episode “Revenge of the Rogues, featuring Captain Cold and Heat Wave.
