Watch Jimmy Fallon And Daisy Ridley Play Han Solo Flip Cup

2015 is a big year for Star Wars fans. As the premiere date of next installment The Force Awakens approaches with what feels like the reduced speed of a starship with a faulty hyperspace drive, finding ways to celebrate the franchise has been a great way to make the wait a little bit easier. Late night host Jimmy Fallon gave a Star Wars twist to a classic drinking game and challenged Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley to a showdown. Check it out!

The Force seemed awakened a bit more in Jimmy Fallon than Daisy Ridley in their game of Han Solo Flip Cup, but Ridley was no scruffy-looking nerf herder as she kept up with Fallon until the very end. Besides, if the two contestants were drawing inspiration from the droids on their hats, it’s no surprise that Fallon had the edge. C-3PO may not be the wildest party droid, but surely he would know the protocol for flip cup. R2-D2 doesn’t even have limbs.

Although the wait still feels painfully long for fans, The Force Awakens opening in a matter of weeks means that there’s an awful lot of merchandise getting the Star Wars stamp, but Han Solo Flip Cup featuring Han Solo Cups is actually pretty clever.

Fallon didn’t specify exactly what he and Ridley were drinking in their game, but it’s a safe bet that it wasn’t beer. Blue milk a la A New Hope would have been fitting, but probably not very tasty for an on-air round of flip cup.

It was fun to see that Jimmy Fallon was clearly in the game rather than just letting the guest win, and Daisy Ridley was adorable in her efforts to catch up to Fallon in the end. At least the game was not massively one-sided as Ridley clearly was familiar with the rules of flip cup ahead of time. Neither drank first, so at least nobody behind the scenes at The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon had to do any post-production editing to make one of them look like less of a scoundrel.

While there’s still a wait ahead of us until Daisy Ridley makes her debut as Rey in The Force Awakens, her appearance on The Tonight Show did at least give us a new game to play to pass the time. Honestly, having seen the clip, it would almost feel irresponsible of us not to whip out a Sharpie and design our own materials for a game of Han Solo Flip Cup.

The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC. Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters on December 18, 2015.
