The Ranch Trailer: Watch Ashton Kutcher, Danny Masterson And More In NSFW Greatness

Netflix has promised a major increase in output in 2016, and we’ve already seen some pretty good originals over at the channel. But nothing has looked quite as weird but familiar as The Ranch, a brand new comedy starring Ashton Kutcher, Sam Elliott and Danny Masterson. You can give the fun—and NSFW if your boss is not into profanity—full trailer for The Ranch a watch, below.

What I like about the trailer for the multi-camera sitcom is that it mixes some traditional comedy tropes—things like canned laughter and pauses from the actors after jokes—with some extremely modern comedy attitudes. Just a few seconds in, Sam Elliott’s character, Beau, drops an f-bomb in regards to quinoa while trying to give some advice to his son, Colt (Ashton Kutcher). This show might have the same basic formatting as something like Fuller House, but make no mistake, it’s not a family-friendly comedy.

We don’t know a ton about the basic premise, but we do know the gist. Colt is returning home for the first time in 15 years to work on the family ranch along with his father and his brother, Rooster, who is played by Danny Masterson. Colt had a semi-pro football career before returning home, and he still clearly dreams about playing. The three men don’t always get along, but they seem to be held together by matriarch Maggie (Debra Winger), who also runs the local bar. Netflix picked up the series for 20 episodes last spring, and those episodes will be release in two 10-episode installments.

I’ll watch pretty much anything with Sam Elliott in it (recent favorites include Justified and Grace & Frankie), but there’s also something a little nostalgic about seeing Masterson and Kutcher reunite on the small screen that really does it for me. The two actors kicked off their respective careers in That ‘70s show almost twenty years ago now—it’s actually been off of the air for a decade if you want to really feel old. Obviously, both men have had success in the years following the show, with Ashton Kutcher taking leads in some big films before settling back in to sitcom life on Two and A Half Men. Masterson’s been really into DJing in recent years and also had a role in the TBS comedy Men at Work. Reports have indicated other That ‘70s Show guest stints may even be in the cards.

One of the pros to Netflix, or cons, depending on your preference, is that the subscription streaming service only gives us a trailer a few weeks in advance of a show’s premiere. Which means that we don’t have to wait all that long before we can binge-watch The Ranch to our heart's content. The Ranch hits Netflix’s schedule on Friday, April 1 at 12:01 p.m. PT, just shortly after Daredevil Season 2 and before Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 2.
