Saturday Night Live's Cheri Oteri Is Heading To TV In A Big Way

Cheri Oteri SNL

Over the years Saturday Night Live has consistently groomed some of the best comedians to ever grace the small and silver screens. Some of these comics have retired from the stage, but plenty more remain quite active to this day. One such talented comedienne who continues to deliver solid work is Cheri Oteri, who has become iconic for her manic, sprite-like characters throughout her career. Oteri fans, get excited; it looks like she's about to return to the small screen in seriously hilarious fashion.

TVLine reports that Cheri Oteri has signed on for an unspecified guest spot on the hit FOX black comedy, Scream Queens, and we've also learned that she has joined the TruTV series, Those Who Can't, for a seven-episode stint on the school-based comedy's second season. She clearly likes to stay occupied, because that's quite a bit of work in a very small amount of time. Still, as long as she keeps the laughs coming, we're in no position to complain.

Although Cheri Oteri's role on Scream Queens remains tightly under wraps, we're not exactly surprised to learn that she has signed on for a part on the series. One of her most prominent film roles to date came in 2000's Scary Movie when she played the part of Gail Hailstorm -- a parody of Courtney Cox's Gale Weather's from the Scream franchise. She long ago established herself as a talented comedienne with a strong knack for black comedy and horror parody, so this casting makes perfect sense.

Then there's Those Who Can't, which looks like another project perfectly suited to her particular comedic talents. When it comes to Those Who Can't, it seems that Cheri Oteri never lost any of the school spirit she had during her days as a Spartan cheerleader alongside comic legend, Will Ferrell. Check out the picture of her from the upcoming season of Those Who Can't below to get good look at her upcoming character, Principal Cattie Goodman. She's bright, cheery, and everything we expect from a Cheri Oteri character.

Cheri Oteri Those Who Can't

Cheri Oteri has kept herself busy over the last few years. Aside from her legendary tenure on Saturday Night Live (which lasted from 1995 to 2000) she has taken on several prominent silver screen roles in films like Liar Liar, Shrek the Third, and the aforementioned Scary Movie. In recent years she has also appeared on several television series such as: Comedy Bang! Bang! Hot in Cleveland, and even Boston Legal. She's one of the most naturally gifted alumni of NBC's Saturday Night Live, and we're glad to see that she will be taking on far more prominent roles in the near future.
