Christina Applegate Is Heading Back To TV, Here's What We Know

Christina Applegate

Looks like Christina Applegate is making a return to television. After starring on shows like Married...with Children, one of the longest running sitcoms on Fox, and the more recent Up All Night, Applegate will once again be gracing the small screen. Her new show will air on Lifetime, and it sounds like it will be a more dramatic turn for the actress who is most prominently known for comedies.

According to Deadline, Christina Applegate has joined Your Time Is Up with actress/writer Kathleen Robertson working on scripting duties. Your Time Is Up is said to be a family story in a similar vein to Six Feet Under, and depicts a disheveled psychologist trying to resume her life after a family tragedy. The psychologist, which will be played by Applegate, uses her unconventional upbringing as inspiration for a less than traditional approach with her patients. No word yet on when the dramedy will hit the airwaves, but it's set to air on Lifetime.

Christina Applegate is a veteran of TV, having played Kelly Bundy on Married...with Children. The show aired from 1987 to 1997, making it one of the longest live-action sitcoms to ever air on Fox. Applegate played the dimwitted but lovable Kelly for 10 seasons, eliciting happy "Woooo's" from the audience whenever she would enter a scene.

Christina Applegate's career has mostly turned to movies, but she has starred on a few short-lived television shows. In 2007 she starred in Samantha Who?, a critically loved series that was nonetheless canceled after two seasons. Applegate headlined as Samantha Newly, a woman who gains amnesia and, after seeing what kind of person she was, sets out to right her wrongs.

She also starred as the lead of Up All Night, an NBC sitcom co-starring Will Arnett. The show followed two new parents, their newborn, and the various ways they have to balance having a child with their former party lifestyle. The show only aired one season, and was frequently plagued with trouble. In its last days, it tried to make a format switch to a multi-camera comedy, but the plug was pulled before that could happen.

Since her days on Married...with Children, Applegate has held a number of film roles. She notable played the female lead in comedies like Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Vacation, and Hall Pass. She can most recently be found in the film Bad Moms as an uptight and domineering leader of the PTA.
