How Legends Of Tomorrow Will Likely Fix Its Big Death

Legends of Tomorrow Amaya Jiwe Vixen

Warning: MAJOR spoilers ahead for Legends of Tomorrow. Don't read any further if you have not watched "Doomworld" yet.

The Legends have gone through all forms of hell during this season of Legends of Tomorrow, but tonight easily was the harshest one yet. "Doomworld" opened with our heroes living out their own personal hells due to the Legion of Doom's use of the Spear of Destiny and ended with Amaya "Vixen" Jiwe dying at the hands of Leonard Snart. So yeah, not a great Tuesday evening for everyone. The Legends now have their backs against the wall, and we think they're going to go a forbidden moment in history to fix things: the death of Jesus Christ.

Let's go back and recap everything that just happened; we knew there would be a major team death before the end of this season, but we didn't expect it to hurt this badly. After struggling to make their way back to each other, the Legends finally reunited in an attempt to take down the Legion of Doom and undo the world created by Eobard Thawne. However, in their climactic battle with the evil speedster, Thawne destroyed the Spear of Destiny while Captain Cold killed Vixen with his cold gun. Now no Spear of Destiny exists in the modern era -- forcing the Legends to go back in time to find an earlier version of the Spear so that they can rewrite reality back to normal and bring her back.

So what makes us think that the Legends will make their way back to the crucifixion to fix the death of Vixen? For starters, last week Rip Hunter specifically told that team that the death of Christ is one of the few moments in time that a Time Master should never go. As far as storytelling devices go, that couldn't be more obvious if a guy named Chekhov walked in with a gun and placed it on the table. The Legends have consistently had to raise the stakes and break their own rules to achieve victory, and having them break this unbreakable rule seems like a perfect way to cap off the season.

It's also worth mentioning that the creative forces behind the series have heavily hinted at this plot development in recent days. During a recent interview with EW, executive producer Marc Guggenheim explained that the Legends are going to break one of the show's most firmly established rules before the season comes to an end. The team has already been to France circa WWI, so the odds of them making a jump 2000 years into the past seem incredibly likely. That said, we can't really be sure just yet, and that level of mystery is what has made this season of Legends of Tomorrow so damn enjoyable.

What do you think? Is Legends of Tomorrow going to take our heroes back to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, or will the team find another way to bring Amaya back from the dead? Let us know what you think in the comments section below!
