Watch John Cena Adorably Propose To Girlfriend Nikki Bella Live At Wrestlemania 33

Last night's Wrestlemania was, as it typically is, a night of many surprises. It was an evening that saw the return of two legends, The Hardy Boyz, and the departure of another, The Undertaker. Surprisingly, the biggest headline of the night had absolutely nothing to do with wrestling, although it took place in the squared circle. 60,000+ fans in the arena, as well as millions watching at home, were in shock to see John Cena adorably drop to one knee and propose to his longtime girlfriend Nikki Bella. Check it out and continue on below:

The big proposal followed a Wrestlemania matchup with The Miz and his wife Maryse, who spent the past couple of months making fun of John Cena and Nikki Bella. After the match, Cena asked for a microphone and launched into one of his patented promos, but then he took a detour that shook him a little off his game, and if I'm being honest, he sounded like he was rambling a bit. If Nikki Bella didn't seem as surprised as you would have thought, it's only because Cena had about a three-minute lead-up to the pre-matrimonial moment that practically everyone in attendance knew was about to happen. Really, the only surprise towards the end was that massive ring he popped out of that Tiffany box! Can you imagine how much he paid for that thing?

It was a fairytale ending to a story long-followed on Nikki Bella's (real name Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace) E! Series, Total Divas. The series, which has since created a spinoff show Total Bellas, gained popularity with wrestling and non-wrestling fans alike for its look behind the curtain of the lives of the people in WWE. If you've seen the series, you know Nikki and John's ongoing question of marriage has always been a hot-button issue that has caused some drama for the couple. Rightfully so, as both superstars have had problems in the past with relationships.

Both John Cena and Nikki Bella have previously been married, and John began dating Nikki in 2012 shortly following the finalization of his divorce from his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Huberdeau. As for Bella, she also married a high school sweetheart, but had the marriage annulled after 3 years. Both superstars have also had documented relationships with WWE superstars currently on the roster, although those particular relationships don't seem to have put much of a strain on the couple or their associates. It's kind of interesting just how these two's past lives have so many parallels between them.

Barring John Cena coming out tonight and performing the "Attitude Adjustment" on his fiance as a way of calling off the marriage, I think we can say this is one of the WWE's most surprising moments in a while. Never in a million years did I think a wrestler would legitimately propose to a fellow superstar in the ring, but I'm glad I got to see it.

Congrats to Nikki and John, and if you're looking to see any follow up to their engagement, WWE's Monday Night Raw begins at 8 p.m. ET on the USA Network.
