Dirty Dancing First Look Shows Off Iconic Dances And All-Star Cast

ABC has been working on a musical remake of the classic 80s film Dirty Dancing for a while now, but we haven't gotten to see much of what the TV movie will actually look like. Sure, we've known who will be playing key characters like Baby and Johnny and Marjorie, but we haven't seen them in costume for truly iconic moments... until now. Members of the Dirty Dancing cast have taken to social media to share pics of filming, and they recreate some of the most iconic moments from the original. Take a look!

Warning: spoilers ahead if you don't know the story of Dirty Dancing.

Leading lady Abigail Breslin shared this photo of Baby on Instagram, standing in her classic back-bending pose while doing her dirtiest dance yet with the hunky Johnny in his room. Colt Prattes even seems to be wearing the same (admittedly somewhat minimal) outfit that Patrick Swayze wore in the original Dirty Dancing scene. Evidently the new Baby and Johnny will find the same way of blowing off steam as their predecessors.

Colt Prattes had a photo of his own to share. He posted a pic that could only come from the epic final dance between Johnny and Baby, when he shows the entire crowd just why Baby doesn't belong in a corner.

This time, Abigail Breslin seems to be the one wearing the ensemble similar to the one from the original movie. The dress doesn't appear to be an identical copy to the one worn by Jennifer Grey in her unforgettable "I've Had The Time of My Life" sequence, but we can bet there there will be as many swirls when she twirls as Grey ever had. It also looks like Breslin is singing in this picture, so there will definitely be some major differences between the 2017 version of the big dance and the 1987 version.

Given that the Dirty Dancing remake won't debut until May, I know I'm glad to see a sneak peek of the action that awaits. As a lover of the original, I've been a little bit nervous about what the remake would do with iconic moments, but it looks like the new version will be honoring them.

Abigal Breslin and Colt Prattes weren't the only two Dirty Dancing cast members to share images from the set of the remake. Continue on to the next page to see even more sneak peeks!

In case anybody was wondering if we really would see Baby in a corner, Debra Messing has the answer for us. Check it out:

Debra Messing, who will be playing Baby's mom Marjorie Houseman, shared a picture of Baby and her family during that fateful night at Kellerman's right before Johnny pulls Baby up on stage. Messing also gives a look at Bruce Greenwood as Dr. Jake Houseman, Sarah Hyland as Lisa Houseman, and Billy Dee Williams as Tito.

In case that small shot of Sarah Hyland as Lisa wasn't enough to satisfy your curiosity, the actress posted a pic of herself that gives a much closer look at her hair and costume. Have a look:

Lisa was never exactly the biggest character on Dirty Dancing, but I'm hoping that Sarah Hyland gets the chance to really join in the singing and the dancing. After all, this version of Dirty Dancing isn't going to be an exact copy of the original, and what better way to show a distinction than by giving Lisa more to do?

We'll have to wait and see. We do already know that Jennifer Grey turned down a role in the remake, and Patrick Swayze sadly isn't available for even a cameo, so we won't see either of the original stars. Still, it looks like the new cast should be able to fill their shoes, and I'm looking forward to seeing the new twist on the dancing classic.

Dirty Dancing will debut on ABC on Wednesday, May 24. Check out our midseason TV premiere guide and our summer TV premiere schedule for a look at all your viewing options now and in the coming weeks, and don't forget to drop by our 2017 rundown of TV renewals and cancellations.
