The Arrow Plotline That Will Probably Be Back In Season 6

Season 5 of Arrow ended on a crazy finale that may or may not have killed off a whole bunch of characters. The episode did answer a number of questions that fans have been pondering for the better part of five years, but there are still some plots that are unresolved at this point. Felicity's plot with the hacktivist organization Helix had to be set aside once the conflict with Prometheus really heated up. Luckily, co-showrunner Wendy Mericle has revealed that we probably haven't seen the last of the computer ninjas at Helix, saying this:

[Helix is] a dangling thread, and we don't like to leave those hanging around. It'd be a great, sort of built-in story for Felicity to revisit these people, who are not very happy with her, let's be honest. We left that open-ended on purpose, for sure.

Felicity's story with Helix came to a rather abrupt end back in April when Felicity's work with the hacktivists conflicted with her Team Arrow affiliation. Although she helped Alena and the other computer revolutionaries to rescue their leader Cayden James from ARGUS prison, the group decided that she was a liability to have around and relocated without telling her where they were going. Neither Felicity nor the viewers got any closure on Helix in Season 5; Wendy Mericle's comments to TVLine indicate that we'll likely discover what happened with Helix after they ditched Felicity.

Wendy Mericle's comments should also reassure anybody who was afraid that Felicity died in the explosions on Lian Yu in the finale, although she's never been a character likely to be killed off of Arrow. Felicity brings a pretty unique set of skills to the table on Team Arrow, and her connections to Oliver and Diggle can't really be replicated, no matter how many newbie vigilantes may enter the scene. It's nice to know that she'll probably get some stories that are about her in Season 6.

Given that she was at odds with the rest of Team Arrow the last time that Helix was on the scene, it should be interesting to see all the in-show reactions to the hacktivists returning. If Felicity is in less of a dark place in Season 6, she might be less inclined to cross all manner of lines to gain access to Helix's resources. We'll have to wait and see.
