Rick And Morty Gets Trippier Than Ever In Crazy New Video

It's almost insane to think that it has been nearly two full years since Rick and Morty last graced our screens on a consistent basis. That said, do you know what's even more insane than the wait for more Rick and Morty? The way in which Adult Swim is marketing the long-awaited third season. In fact, a new promotional music video was just released to get fans pumped for Season 3, and it's nothing less than a mind-bending journey into a terrifying multiverse. The best kind! Take a look at the video below, and check your sanity at the door.

That video alone should be classified as a Schedule I narcotic. It's weird, it's trippy, and it pretty much embodies everything that we love about Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland's animated series; all in less than four minutes. However, aside from all of the impossibly cool visuals, the best part of the entire video is the way in which Rick seems to know exactly what's about to happen the moment the glass beaker breaks. He just waits for the trip to end so he can go back to making more "pure LSD." Szechuan sauce drives the man insane, but LSD barely causes him to bat an eye. I guess we should expect nothing less from Rick; after all, the guy does love to get riggity riggity wrecked, son.

By the way, I would also be remiss for not pointing out the fact that this video also facilitates the return of Scary Terry to the Rick and Morty universe. The delightfully inept Freddy Krueger rip-off hasn't been seen since the events of "Lawnmower Dog" during Season 1, but it's really nice to see that he has gotten better at hunting Morty while Rick runs and hides (bitch).

Rick and Morty Scary Terry

A ton of Rick and Morty love is on full display in this video, and the clip also deserves special credit for the kind of multi-marketing Adult Swim does best. It's not just a piece of promotional material for the fan-favorite sci-fi series; it's also a music video that allows the late-night Cartoon Network block to put the directing chops of Matt Taylor and the music of Run The Jewels on full display. Adult Swim has never shied away from highlighting the talents of artists (musical and visual), or allowing those artists to experiment, and this video captures that brazen attitude towards content in a way that feels authentic and respectful of the fans dying for new content.

CinemaBlend will keep you posted with any and all relevant updates regarding the upcoming season of Rick and Morty, with some very interesting tidbits on the way soon. The series will return to Adult Swim on Sunday, July 30 at 11:30 p.m. EST.
