CSI: New York - Season 4 Premieres: Wednesday, September 26, at 10:00 p.m. EST Network: CBS Creator(s): Anthony E. Zuiker, Carol Mendelsohn, and Ann Donahue Starring: Gary Sinise, Melina Kanakaredes, Carmine Giovinazzo, Anna Belknap, A.J. Buckley, Hill Harper, and Eddie Cahill Website: CBS.com
CSI: New York is the latest spin-off of the CSI franchise. Detective Mac Taylor, played by Gary Sinise, heads up the New York team of forensic scientists. The same way CSI and CSI: Miami do, the detectives on CSI: NY combine high-tech equipment and old-fashioned detective work to solve crimes all over the Big Apple.
On the season finale of CSI: NY, Mac, Stella (Melina Kanakaredes), and Hawkes (Hill Harper) had to defend the lab from drug lords who came looking for their merchandise. Meanwhile, Danny (Carmine Giovinazzo) and Adam (A.J. Buckley) were held hostage in a warehouse by people working for the drug lords that were in the lab. On a lighter note, after 2 seasons of flirtation, Danny and Lindsay (Anna Belknap) finally got together. On the 4th season premiere of CSI: NY, (Spoiler Warning) a case takes the CSIs all the way up the Statue of Liberty.
I’m looking forward to the next season of CSI: NY. One of the things I like best about this show is the cast. Usually when I watch a show, there’s at least one character that I’m not too crazy about. That isn’t the case with CSI: NY. I like each and every one of them. That being said, what really make a show like CSI: NY so entertaining is the types of cases we are shown each week. Before I started watching this show, I was a fan of NYPD Blue, and while I did like that show and it seemed (at least to me, but I could be wrong because I don’t know any cops) like a relatively realistic portrayal of life as a member of the NYPD (and I’m talking strictly about their professional life here, not their personal life). However, the cases on NYPD Blue weren’t nearly as interesting as they are on CSI: NY.
Just last season we were treated to an investigation of the death of (what appeared to be) an actual fallen angel (the “vic” was found in a pair of angel wings and had actually fallen out of the sky), an investigation involving a “roach brooch” (an expensive necklace made out of... a roach), a case involving three bank robbers dressed like Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn’s character in Breakfast at Tifffany’s), among others. With cases like this, CSI: NY is a difficult show for me to pass up!

Next to the original CSI, CSI:NY is the best show on T.V. Unlike the season premier of CSI: Miami, which consistently has terrible acting, shallow characters and does nothing but showcase David Caruso in mind-boggling profile shots (Pu-leez), CSI: Miami's season premier was brilliant! I looked forward to it and was not disappointed. Keep up the good work!
